So, they might let us keep our sweetheart LHN deal for home games? :-) Full-time all other sports?
I believe CFB will have new Division 4 and geographical alignment before our Big 12 "grant of rights" expires in 2025.

We can only hope. What was Dodds thinking...2025? sheesh!

UT should think about joining the BIG 10, most of the BIG 10 schools are members of the Association of American Universities. So academically joining the BIG 10 makes sense as well as Athletically speaking, the BIG 10 has such a rich history. I think it comes down to Greed, the Longhorn Network has been more of a liability. UT would have to drop LHN to join the BIG 10 IMO.

At one point in time, I would have said that I agree with you; however, that is no longer the case. The Big 10 is very good academically, but in football, it would hurt our chances of inclusion in the 'final four'. This is all a moot point, at any rate, until and unless CFB develops a playoff system before our GOR expires.

Thank you for your thoughts and reply.

I think the BIG 10 gets over looked by the media, ESPN and all the other Sports Media Sources are all in love with the SEC, however because the SEC gets so much love, we are seeing a trend with recruits as well. We will continue to see recruits choose TAMU over UT bc the BIG 12 IMO is a dying conference like the SWC. I think recruits would be excited to get an opportunity to play against teams like Ohio State, Michigan, PSU, Mich St. I think it you revive interest in our program, I know that TAMU has only had the upperhand in recruiting for a couple of years but I have a feeling it will continue if we remain in the BIG 12.

If we win under Strong, recruits will come to Austin. College Station doesn't offer what Austin does, and while the Ags are having 'winning' seasons, 8-4 does not exactly cover a program with glory. Sumlin may have charisma, but he isn't Bear Bryant. Is Sumlin a championship coach? That question is yet to be answered, but I have yet to see a good defense on his watch. I believe that the old adage goes, "Defense wins championships". If that is the case, and I believe it is, where is Sumlin's?

Edit: Of course the Big 10 gets overlooked by the media. Have you looked to see where most of the major sports outlets are based? The polls? The vast majority are based on the East Coast and West Coast. I don't see that changing. Do you?

I hope you're right, for the sake of our program

Was at Disney World 4 years ago or so. . . we were there a week and without realizing it .. .i wore TEXAS shirts about every day. . . .now plenty of other college shirts were being worn but it was amazing how often I'd hear "Hook'em Horns" often at some distance. . .
My wife's family is from Central Washington. . . .you NEVER see someone with a Washington State flag flying from their home. . .but I did see 3 Texas flags as we traveled (we were doing the wine region tour. . .some GREAT reds)

When I was in Australia. . . .they asked all of us what state we were from. . . .again when I said Texas .. . the response was more enthusiastic. . .noone said "where's that". . . .

As John Steinbeck said:

“Texas is a state of mind. Texas is an obsession. Above all, Texas is a nation in every sense of the word. And there's an opening convey of generalities. A Texan outside of Texas is a foreigner.”
cheese my friend The University Of Texas has name power the aggies can only dream of having that kind of power. My friends y'all have a great day

When I played at Torrey Pines, I was wearing a Longhorn visor. The starter asked where I went to school. In my head, I was like "Duh, isn't it obvious." I said "Texas" and he then asked a follow-up question "Is that in College Station? The Aggies?" SMH....
Unfortunately, TAMU is the hot school from the state of Texas. My friend from the Bay Area who is not a sports fan at all asked where I went to school, I said "Texas." She also asked if that was Texas A&M in College Station.

That really is odd. We travel all the time and I have never once had that issue when asked. In fact, when I say Texas, most say, "Hookem" or "Ah, the Longhorns." I have never once had anyone think Texas had anything to do with the Aggies.

I found it very perplexing as well.

Shortly after moving back to Texas from out of state, I was tubing down the Frio with some friends. A very nice young man wearing an Aggie cap helped one of my friends out when she become lodged against a rock. I thanked him and told him my sister went to A&M, which is sad but true. He really brightened, and I added that unfortunately her SAT wasn't high enough to get into Texas (not true).

I still laugh when thinking about the expression that crossed his face. It wasn't a nice thing to do, not at all, but it was too funny.

I forgot to add that I had on a Texas visor and t-shirt, big block TEXAS across the front. Good times.
