*****Texas vs. Kansas*****

Where do I even start? lol

Why are you worried about who coaches the last game? We just lost to Kansas, Charles. Kansas. I will put on a whistle and coach against TCU if I have to. We could do no worse.

These idiots you speak of . . . maybe they don't want to be embarrassed on national TV in a bowl game? Charles, we just lost to Kansas. We're not going to win a bowl game, if we're unfortunate enough to get into one.

This is a dying horse. You pull out your six-shooter and put an end to it, stop the suffering.
The BMDs run the show. They take credit when it runs well and deflect all blame when they drive it into the dirt like they have now. Much like when Patterson was hired, they accept no accountability for their errors. Just all the credit when things go well.

The BMDs at Texas provide proportionally fewer resources to UT athletics than do the BMDs at any other school in the nation. Yet, the BMDs remain in control and avoid all accountability when they fail.

The system needs to be reformed to get better minds involved in guiding UT athletics. The cabal in charge now isn't getting it done.

Not just Charlie failed. Yet Charlie is the only person going to be held accountable. So let the BMDs have their way for yet another cycle. And let the cycle start tonight. There is no urgency to get a competent AD in charge. Just let the BMDs make the decisions. Smh.

Correction a loss to Iowa State followed by a loss to Kansas stings more'
Both loses suck. Don't get me wrong, he is done but I'm sure writing a $10M check to someone you firing would suck too.

Failure is seldom exclusive with a team concept. Mack wasn't the only one who failed on that staff/team when he was let go.

Doesn't really matter who they were, there was one guy responsible for it.

I'm not going to join the BMD rabbit chase you're starting. But the line about fewer resources than any school in the nation was pretty funny, even for you.

None of the people who hired Patterson have been excluded from further involvement in UT athletics decisions, and the hiring of Patterson was an epic failure. Not one. Utter failure, no accountability. None.
And the revenues of UT athletics are driven far more by marketing and licensing than donations. The BMDs are not throwing money at UT athletics. They haven't for a number of years. That might change when the SEZ, FEC replacement and scholarship endowment drives start, but over the last five years, the BMDs absolutely have not been funding UT athletics. Not at all. Donations are at less than 20% and BMD donations are at the lowest level in 20 years. The BMDs are running UT athletics, making horrendous decisions and not donating at levels not even close to the level of influence they are exerting.

The coaches have ridden him into the ground while doing shit all on O. I understand using the best you have to win but there's a fine line in doing that and being a one trick pony cause you lack the ability to evolve.

He looked like he was in a lot of pain. The workload on that kid was too much.

There was absolutely no reason for them not to use Porter more to limit D'Onta's carries once they knew Shane was having problems passing.  It was irresponsible.  I don't know if no one was tracking the carries or just using poor judgement.

Honestly, I'm surprised people are shocked we lost. We've consistently under performed on the road and all week the chatter was about TCU and whether or not we could get to 7-5. Almost everyone just assumed wed be bowl eligible after today. I texted two separate groups of friends today and told both of them we were losing this game. No one believed me. This had the makings of a trap game written all over it and that's exactly the type of game Strong has been so terrible at preparing his team for. This is just another example of a massive failure at the top. Strong seems like a nice enough guy but that doesn't show up on the scoreboard. Someone give Romo's number to Charlie - they can commiserate over a beer about the harsh reality of sports: only winning matters

Lol

Trap games aren't what Charlie has been horrible at preparing for, football games are what Charlie has been horrible at preparing the team for.

He wasn't prepared to coach at the P5 level. He will coach again at the mid-major level and do well. But he will never again get a shot at a P5 program.

I guess in particular I'm referring to games that should be "gimmie" wins (ISU last year, Kansas this year) but point taken - he's been unable to have his team consistently ready to play throughout his tenure.

I'm with SirHorns. Who gives a shit who coaches the TCU game. Lose to Kansas and you should be gone immediately.
Let me guess, you also wonder who gives a shit about the commitment of the players to the program.

If the players are emotionally invested in how Charlie goes out, their feelings mean more in the big picture than old, fat alumni.

The players give a shit about who coaches the TCU game. When we collectively quit caring about making it meaningful for the players, then how much more can we as alumni F@#K up UT athletics?

Regarding your first sentence, you guessed wrong.

And, for the record, I'm what a lot of people refer to as a t-shirt fan and not an alumni. But neither the alumni or t-shirt fans have done anything to f@#j up UT athletics. You can put that all on the "powers that be".

It should be about what the players want, not the rest of us saying "who.cares." They care.

I think it's right... but I'm greatly torn. I love my Longhorns and the program above any one person. That said, Strong is the last of a dying breed. He cares. He grows young men. He is moral in an immoral field. For all the GREAT that is Charlie, I will miss him. I will miss the security of knowing that I won't wake up to our program being enveloped in a Baylor like situation. The man is a class act... he just got in over his head and could never get a grip or gain control for Saturday's.

Eternal respect for the man.

It's being reported Charlie has been fired but will coach the last game. CBS Sports
