*****Texas vs. Kansas*****

It should be about what the players want, not the rest of us saying "who.cares." They care.

You have GOT to be kidding me.

No, you have adults running the education and athletic systems instead of students because the adults are degreed professionals, mature in age and wisdom. You're suggesting they're pieces of furniture and the real wisdom lies in the emotions of young people.

Cry all you want about BMDs, but I hope to hell they're not thinking like you are here. They care more than any student does. Student's been there maybe 1-2-3 years? BMDs did that much and more and have been knee-deep in UT for decades since.

It's like you're living in a parallel universe here. Most of us are upset about a historic loss and the coach who is responsible for it. Meanwhile you're in some crazy war with BMDs and are apparently upset about an AD who once worked for UT. Let me know when this Kansas thing starts to set in for ya. lol

None of the people who hired Patterson have been excluded from further involvement in UT athletics decisions, and the hiring of Patterson was an epic failure. Not one. Utter failure, no accountability. None.

And the revenues of UT athletics are driven far more by marketing and licensing than donations. The BMDs are not throwing money at UT athletics. They haven't for a number of years. That might change when the SEZ, FEC replacement and scholarship endowment drives start, but over the last five years, the BMDs absolutely have not been funding UT athletics. Not at all. Donations are at less than 20% and BMD donations are at the lowest level in 20 years. The BMDs are running UT athletics, making horrendous decisions and not donating at levels not even close to the level of influence they are exerting.

Why would they be? You live a mistake-free life? Really? And one mistake should cost you from that point-forward?

Who, exactly, hired Patterson? Was it not the BOR? And you think you can exclude them from something? Anything? lol

Revenues – Now we're shifting subjects while pretending we're going to win the point? When did marketing and revenues become part of this discussion and what on earth would that have to do with BMD contributions? We have the top selling brand in American collegiate athletics and its been that way for a long, long time. Again, though, WTF was this brought up for?

Patterson was NOT the BMD's choice. Clear the fog from your memory otherwise this is a straw man. The BMDs were pissed about Patterson and couldn't wait to get rid of him.

I don't mind if you wage your own little private war with BMDs and the concept of alumni who donate huge sums of money, are buying luxury boxes every year, and basically work behind the scenes to help make Texas the success it is even during times when the football sucks hind wind.

Look around the Big 12. How many other schools have an alumni name on their field?

There's a reason Texas BMDs have a reputation around the nation. They were the focus of an ESPN story just today. It's not because they don't donate and wield no financial power.

Let me guess, you also wonder who gives a shit about the commitment of the players to the program.

If the players are emotionally invested in how Charlie goes out, their feelings mean more in the big picture than old, fat alumni.

The players give a shit about who coaches the TCU game. When we collectively quit caring about making it meaningful for the players, then how much more can we as alumni F@#k up UT athletics?

Tell me, does allowing a coach to squander even more show a commitment to the players?

He has the worst three-year record. He just lost to Kansas, whom we haven't lost to since 1938. Changing assistants seem to only change the way we lose. Now we score bunches and still get beat.

You don't let emotions run a program. You don't let the emotions of your students run your program. You run your program in the best interest of the entity that is the University of Texas. Students are the LEAST LIKELY to have a solution to adult problems. You don't just dump that responsibility in their lap because you're too lazy to make a decision. What does doing nothing after losing to Kansas say to the players? To the fan base? To the alumni?

It says "we're okay with this."

Its really not that hard to believe we lost now in retrospect.

We are not a well coached team. We get the best from everyone every week because everyone wants to beat us.

I truly believe we can be an 8 win team with majority of the coaching staffs that other teams have. With a great coach we can make the playoffs.

Our coaching staff sucks, its fact. The record and stats show.

We have a bright future with the young talent we have.

Nope, it's real. Woke up in Lawrence thinking that was a nightmare.
