So he passes on the Cowboys but takes the Lions job. That tells you all you need to know about Jones.

But Dayton was fired. Shouldn’t have a buyout now. But would have to beat out Penn State.

Jimbo was fired. As long as he sits on his ass, he's on the aggy payroll.

As long as Drayton doesn't take another job, he will be paid his head coaching contract. That is $3 million I think. If he takes the Texas job, he ceases to be paid the $3 million and instead would be paid $700K as RB coach at Texas.

So it would financially hurt him to take a job at Texas at this time.

Seems like a bad deal for everyone. Would have been smarter for all, if say for every dollar he earned he would have his temple pay reduced by 50 cents.

Contracts don’t usually work that way. The university can usually reduce their payment obligation by your new salary. They would only owe nothing if your new salary was the same or greater.

I don't think so. A buyout works both ways. If a coach is hired away by another team that team is responsible for his buyout. If his team fires him they have to pay a lump sum on the buyout clause.

Jimbo gets paid by aggy no matter what happens. He can get a job or not and still get paid. aggy made a joke of a stupid buyout. They owed $19.2M within 60 days of firing and $7.1M a year until 2031 with no mitigated damages. He gets $7.1M no matter what he does. He’s getting paid more to not coach than most coaches get paid.

And aggy wonders why they are …

Good weekend for Texas sports overall. Basketball teams win home games over ranked opponents, softball won all their games, baseball wins 2 of 3 to take the Shiner's Children Tournament in Arlington and the men's tennis team beats #5 Virgina to advance to the semi's of the ITA Indoors championship. 🤘
