Basketball News/Recruiting Thread

RT is a good Recruiter, talent evaluator, and good Lead Assistant. He just isn't a good Head Coach. Wasn't at UTEP and not here. All 3 of our last head coaches had much more success than him. All three are also ranked with 2 being final 4 favorites this year.

Guys I'd be interested in coming to coach here that are realistic in my mind:

TJ Otzelberger (Iowa St)
Greg McDermott (Creighton)
Billy Donovan (Bulls)
Jay Wright (Retirement/Longshot)
Chris Jans (Miss St)

By the end of the season, I think you can add Ben McCollum's name to that list. He's in his first season at Drake, and was in the lower divisions before that, but the dude just wins. I'd be very surprised if someone doesn't snatch him up after the season.

But the games after he was penalty-free, he got penalized again :ROFLMAO:

Yes, but nothing like he was doing before. If you're asking for perfection, I don't know what to tell you. It's football played by humans.

It's a different story if 2/3rds of the false start penalties are by the same guy. If there was a false start by the OL, most likely it was Cam. I can't seem to find the official stats anywhere, but I think he would be the leader in false starts by an O-lineman by far

I like the Ivey idea but a bit of a risk on an up and coming coach. No head coaching outside of the South Sudan Olympic team. Hasn't be in college coaching at all.
Completely meant to add Ivey to my list and just typed too fast and skipped him. He 100% should be in contention. I'm with you BWilk that we don't know how he'd recruit, but he is thought of enormously in NBA circles. And what he's done with South Sudan is crazy impressive.

I 100% think he'd be a better in game coach than RT but I worry about his talent eval and recruiting skills. If he builds a strong assistant tree around him then they can make up for that.
