Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

The last few days I have heard Bobby and Gerry talk about how Vince just didn't have the right arm arm angle or release, This is nonsense. Over 3059 passing yards and 1000 rushing yards. The QB killer coach ruined Vince's career. He was the original Lamar Jackson.

VY didn't have a proper throwing motion, thats no secret. But he was quite adapt at how he naturally threw the ball. Thats why when Mack and GD stopped trying to change him, he took off like he had wings.

Most people have learned that if you're effective to leave it alone. Unfortunately the QB killer coach ruined VY. He was the original Lamar Jackson.

Those guys need to look at some old tape of Kenny Stabler.....he just got the ball to them however he needed to....more career INTs that TDs ....but he also is in the HOF...and has a Ring

The "Snake."
I read his book, pretty cool guy. His comments about Earl were classic. Something about the only black guy on the team that listened to Willie Nelson.

Gerry and Bobby both think that Vince Young was the best QB prospect come out of the high school ranks they have seen. He throwing motion was not typical but that didn't stop them then or now from thinking he was a stud.

I remember some of the interviews of the USC players after we spanked them in 2005. They said they had heard Texas was big but when the Texas offense came out that first ttime and they saw Vince Young, as big as some of their lineman, they knew they were in for a battle.

I was watching the 10:00 news in January 2002 and the lead story on the sports segment came on. I yelled we got him. My wife came running down the stairs asking if we got Bin Laden. My response was hell no, better than that, we got Vincent Young!!

Gerry Hamilton did a very nice look at the teams on the Longhorns schedule this year. I won't get into that beyond mention but below is a list of the number of projected draft picks the Longhorns will face this year.

2024 schedule:

10 - first round selections

7 - second round selections

5 - third rounders

11 - fourth rounders

7 - fifth rounders

5 - sixth rounders

5 - seventh rounders

As much as I would like to have Vegetables coaching ousux forever, I think his days may be numbered.

FWIW, the over/under for wins is 6.5. Given his buyout 7 wins may buy him another year, given the significant buyout.

It's interesting how some in the media are pumping up John Mateer as a potable hiesman candidate. It seems like a do or die year for Venables. Given ou's financials, I doubt the next coach will be able to turn things around

so you're saying I have to pull for them the win 7 games?

Nope, I think Venables is their best shot at success in the foreseeable future. I hope they suck this year, and then they settle for a new coach that sucks just as bad.

Vince had a strange throwing motion for sure......but he could fire a strike from a damned long way off.

Pete Carroll and Matt Lienartwhen asked why they went for it on 4th down instead of punting and leaving Texas with a very long field both sais at different times,,,,,"we could not stop the Quarterback"....Vince knew it, and they knew it.....
