No. 8 Texas (7-2, 0-0 Big 12) vs. UTPA (5-2, 0-0 WAC)

February 25, 6:00PM

-  Because the game was moved from Tuesday to Wednesday, it will NOT be broadcast on LHN.

Pitching Matchup:

UT -. RHP Connor Mayes (Freshman)   VS

UTPA - RHP Parker Gallegos (Junior)

-  In his debut with the Broncos, Gallegos pitched seven shutout innings (4 K's, 5 hits, 3 BB's).

-  Texas leads the all-time series with UTPA 46-6 and has won 40 straight over the Broncs. In Austin, the Horns have won 38 of 39 all-time matchups.

- Texas and UTPA played twice last year, with the Horns winning both games. However both wins were by just a single run, including an 11th inning walk-off victory.

-  UTPA is 5-2:

  • 2-2 in season-opening Jackson State Tournament – two one-run losses on Friday (Jackson State, UT-Martin), then two wins on Saturday (Jackson State, UT-Martin)
  • 3-0 weekend sweep of Abilene Christian last weekend

-  Broncos picked T6th in preseason WAC poll.

-  Two trends to keep an eye on:

  • Texas is outscoring its opponents 31-2 from the seventh inning on this season.
  • The offense has scored 44 of its 63 total runs in innings where the leadoff man reaches base safely.

Gonna have to go old school tonight if you're not going to the game. Pour yourself a good bourbon and settle in next to the radio and listen to the game on there.

So who is going to bite the bullet for us stalwarts and do this since joeywa is ditching us
I'm at DFF. I'm not going to be able to replace joeywa's PBP effort, but I traded in my Color Analyst headset and will be wearing the PBP one tonight.

62 degrees and barely enough breeze to rustle the flags.
