*****TEXAS vs. LOUISIANA TECH GAME THREAD*****

Kobe Boyce is learning on the job.  Has had a few blunders so far but it is stuff he can learn from.
I don’t believe he can, he needed to have learned by now. He plays even 1 play, I attack Boyce often. LSU has much much better WR that will tear Boyce apart

It has been a long time that any of us could relax and watch an OOC game without stressing. Louisiana Tech's offense looked game early, but Orlando's defense tightened up as the Tech offense got closer to the goal line.

What a BS call!!
I just got home from the game so is this the "roughing the passer" call that appeared live to be a defender laying on the ground and using his arms to try and tackle the QB during a pick 6? I can't wait to see the replay because live it appear to be a horrible call! The side judge on the La Tech side was horrible! His grade for this game will be low.

My interpretation was that Sterns and Jones were both going for the QB. Sterns stumbled, Jones tripped over him and ended up sliding headfirst into the QB's ankle/shin.

I looked up the rule, and I don't think it was applied correctly: "...no defensive player rushing unabated shall hit [the QB] forcibly at the knee area or below. The defensive player also may not initiate a roll or lunge and forcibly hit this opponent in the knee area or below.... It is not a foul if the defender is not rushing unabated or is blocked or fouled into this opponent.” (emphasis mine).

Jones stumbled over Sterns (so I don’t think he was “rushing unabated”), so my interpretation is that the flag should’ve been picked up.

Here’s some sunshine:

we have an elite QB, super talented  WR group and finally a good OL.  O will be very hard to deal with this year.

Orlando’s defense has yet to play well week 1. Week 2 is typically opening week for them.  A lot of talent on that side of things... when you look at it that way, the sky isn’t falling.

Best team since 2009 is so obvious that isn’t isn’t worth saying; but I just did, didn’t I?

Well put. This team is very good. I feel like we just got a small Taste of what this offense really is also. I do believe only 1 offense penalty all game, testament to Coach Hand...Herman and company are building something special.

We have a RB in Ingram, just think we didn't want to overuse him week 1 due to the depth issues.

Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know if the refs were a Big XII or Conference USA crew?

Not impressed with defense.  Ossai and Green were very good, bur other than that tons of wrong angles, juked missed tackles/sacks, blown assignments. You can tell we lost some important players from last year.  Dont kid yourself this isnt the defense from last year.  Its raw and inexperienced but talented.

Sam didnt seem on his passing game.  Lots of throws behind or over receivers.  All in all was good enough to thump LAT but LSU will require more.  Ingrams moves remind me of Jamal Charles.  Not as fast but the kid has some sweet moves.  The OLine nightmare seems to be over finally.

Atleast it wasnt Maryland.
