Texas leads 5-2 headed B8, Merryman comes to the bump for the Horns.

Merryman gives up a 2-run shot in B9, and Texas calls on Donny Diaz now.

No outs, nobody on.

Horns win 5-4, completes the sweep of Rice.

Great win for the Horns. Sweeping Rice ain't no joke. Very aggressive at the plate. I like it. Stellar pitching for the most part. Great way to start the season!

Didn't get to follow today's games since I was on a golf course, but reading back through it was another solid game. Great to get a sweep to start the season. Looking forward to the 5 games on LHN this week.

Diaz entered the fall with the mentality that he was on the bubble. He truly didn’t know if he was going to make the roster until the last cut was made. That type of mindset, “go out and compete every day and improve,” is exactly what this team needs. It’s also the mindset that a closer needs to have.
