Unless Patterson finds it convenient to manipulate Burton and Little, then they are going to have to do some serious selling to get back into the good graces they had before.

Did no one understand there was going to be a house cleaning when Patterson was hired? Like McPhaul has said - pay attention to what happens when Mack is finally gone.

Has anyone considered that Kirby Smart may be available if NS isn't? He is the name thrown out to replace Nick if Saban leaves. If Saban stays, then Smart would probably bolt right? He won't sit around for another 5 to 7 years. Unless he already knows that Saban is gone and he is awaiting his interview for the AU job.

Just got an email earlier this morning...
All these names that are popping up by different sources are just that names. The committee has always had their eye on one guy. That one guy has still not said no to our latest talks.

Does that mean it's a lock? No. But all the energy and efforts are on Nick.

If or when he tells us no, then you'll see a lot more smoke. Bellmont and the new AD loves that no one is talking Saban.

My own feelings on this is if Nick tells us no. The coach might be someone we haven't talked about a lot.

Shaunsters - If NS is indeed No. 1 on the list is JF number 2? Is he "truly interested"?

Smart may end up being a great HC. But why would we take a guy with zero head coaching experience for such a monster position as that at UT? I know Stoops was a home run hire, but I'm sure a lot of times such a move doesn't work. And you open yourself up for unlimited criticism by making such a move. I just can't see the logic in any sense with that
