Recruiting Week #27-28

Buechele now moved from 159 to 128 in the 247 Composite.
Texags homer Liucci has Buechele ranked higher in the state than 247. That's pretty funny.

If 247 would just give Buechele a slight bump, he would be close to a composite top 100 player.

Why No. 4 WR Devin Duvernay has all but eliminated Texas

I think Texas is fine with that.  Numbers are at a premium (always seems to be the case for Texas, but never for Alabama) this year and they couldn't throw one away on his brother.  Not that his brother couldn't be a contributor in the future, but I think Texas is content with their WR class for 16. However, I do think they're all in on Dee Anderson if he decides to flips (which I think he will).  If he doesn't flip, I think they're fine.  Mapps and Newsome will have Devin's spot locked down for the next 4 years anyway.  I would love to have Devin in the class, but I don't think he's worth two scholarships.

Agree, our 2016 WR recruiting is great right now. I heard that WR's were calling after Shane's good Elite 11 performance. I would like Devin in this class, but not if it means taking a recruit that the coaches don't believe is worth a scholarship.

Yeah, I don't think Duvernay is happening. 1) I don't think we will offer his brother. 2) I think Dee Anderson is the higher priority. If we miss on Dee I think we will just take 3 WRs, and the staff will be fine with that.

DE Brandon Bowen (#2 in latest LSR top 100) says we are out of it

The coach at Trophy Club Byron Nelson has a lot in common with Bret Bielema.

What?  They both wear a size 54C?  They do need more support though.

I'm pretty sure we have enough spots to take 4 WR's but I am fine with the ones we have now if we don't get another commitment from a WR.

Daje & Marcus Johnson will be gone after this year so we should probably take 4, considering the depth quality at the position.

Armanti Foreman is the only guy with a future at the position right now that isn't a freshman, even though I think Lorenzo Joe might be a candidate as well.

Defensive line is another group we should take a lot of commits from. We need another, more athletic DT and two bigger more traditional DE's along with a fox guy as well.

Video on Fowler. The sum is they think he's recently firmed up his LSU committment.

I'm not convinced. There's a lot of time for his family, the Texas coaches and nearly everyone around him to work on him. And Austin will start to look more attractive as the reality of leaving home sets in closer to signing day.

Here is the Caleb Kelly background story.  http://theclovisroundup.com/family-strong-caleb-kellys-rise-to-top-football-recruit-took-a-village/

" .....  “I’m not gloating because I’m his mom. There’s no one like him, he’s simply a really great kid,†says Valerie. “He does anything for me. Whatever I need done, he’ll do it. When I think of him I think of an upstanding man.â€

Valerie speaks the truth. Everyone gushes more about Caleb the person than Caleb the sensational football player, and it’s quickly evident that this is an 18-year-old raised right. A young man mature beyond his years. A believer who understands the blessing God has bestowed upon him. Always positive with a charming yet genuine smile, never once checking his phone during an hour and a half conversation, a rare occurrence for anyone, let alone a teenager.

But behind all the endearing and delightful qualities there’s a predator crouching in the underbrush, another side to Caleb that’s receiving national attention – the Clovis West senior happens to be the No. 1 rated football college recruit on the West Coast and an absolute beast on the field. From Oklahoma to Alabama, Notre Dame to Michigan, Stanford to Oregon, they’ve made Caleb Kelly a top priority and there’s a million reasons why, most of them football related...."
