Recruiting Week #27-28

Here is another installment of the Elite 11 QB video

The other eps can be found there

Much lower academic standards. Of course Lampkin is a stand up guy compared to the hoodlums Stoops has accepted who enjoy beating women. Solid policies in Norman, from the president to the AD to Stoops. Setting great exames to these young men they are developing! Of course, this thread is about Lampkin and I have taken a left turn and piled on prior issues.

Juan, have we targeted this guy?
Perroni says he is about to pick up more offers (Baylor/Stanford)

Brick Haley is recruiting him for us (247 shows no offer).

But he's a good player, with decent size, long arms and room to add weight.

There's really no point reacting to any developments — positive or negative — concerning players who can't sign for 531 days. That said, I'm making the extremely homer case in today's 4th & 5 that Texas may be in a better position in 2017 recruiting than A&M with regard to QBs.

  1. There's a better chance Ehlinger sticks. He grew up a Texas fan, whereas Martell didn't have A&M on top until three weeks ago. And Ehlinger plays in a stadium 5 miles from DKR; Martell is almost 1,200 miles from College Station.
  2. Because he's so close to campus, Ehlinger can spend as much time as he wants with the coaches. He may need to redshirt to get prepared physically (I doubt it) or to get acclimated to the speed, but he won't need it to learn the offense. He's going to be very familiar with the scheme by the time he gets to Texas.
  3. Remember that huge recruiting boost Texas got when Zach Gentry committed? No, you don't, because there wasn't one. Texas high school players — the players who will make up the bulk of both teams' recruiting classes (shut up, Jake Trotter) — know who Sam Ehlinger is. They play against him; they see him at football camps; they see him when they're visiting the Longhorns. Ehlinger is a friend; Martell is a phantom. You're pretty sure he exists, but you don't really know, you know? He can't help Sumlin recruit like Kyler Murray could. The Aggies will have to find their bell cow somewhere else.

DT Michael Williams (Ft Worth All Saints Episcopal) committed to Stanford

But we still have a decent shot

Seems fairly clear that the committment of Sam Ehlinger ended the interest of Jaylon Mascorro in Texas.

DE Brandon Bowen (#2 in latest LSR top 100) says we are out of it

The coach at Trophy Club Byron Nelson has a lot in common with Bret Bielema.
