So, I’m bored and would like to get this started. Here’s what I think, we have scored 106 points in the last two games and they have scored 58. That’s a pretty big discrepancy. While I’m sure we can’t stop Penix consistently, I think we can stop them a lot more than they can stop us. They hang tough in the first half and we’re up 28-21 at the half but we outscore them 17-7 after that for a final of:
Us-45
Them-28
What say the rest of you?

I think you're very close. I'm seeing quite a few media picks for the Horns to win it all.

Everybody, this is the Common Man Prediction Thread for the Sugar Bowl game. Just post here with all your predictions. You'll still get the steak knives. :)

This is a difficult game to predict. Washington's offense relies heavily on the passing game. Defending the passing game is often a problem for us. This is troublesome because the secondary is going to have to be prepared to the Nth degree. I am hoping PK has some sort of antidote in the works.

If our defense takes away the run and can get Washington to actually punt the ball, Chapala's prediction makes perfect sense.

Our offense should score at will and Washington won't put up much resistance. However, we cannot give them any turnovers.

My brain says Washington is going to be a real problem for us. My heart of course says Texas.

Texas 51
Washington 46

Sorry to steal your prediction thread. TFloss, feel free to rename this thread to “Common Man Prediction Thread”. I’ve got way too much time on my hands because we don’t have to do the holidays as we live so far away that we don’t see family during the holidays.

You need not apologize. It didn't matter to me that you started it, as long as it gets done. I thought since you had already posted it, we'd just go with it this time.

With great power comes great responsibility. You'll need an algorithm to calculate the winner and a set of steak knives.

Nope, ain’t doing it…

seriously....we have an elite defense. We are weak on the back end, but we are hard to score against. They will not be able to run on us......OTOH....the only thing UW knows about defense is that they aren't very good at it....

I’m thinking the freshman Ant Hill and Ethan Burke have a big night pressuring Penix and another freshman Muhammed gets a pick.
Texas 42
UW 21

As much as I want us to win big, I just don't think it will happen that way. They spread the field and run up-tempo to wear our big guys down, but we still slow them down enough to win by 7.
We win the next game by 7 too, but the score will be lower. 🤘

Texas 45
Wash 38

My prediction is above. Just a little FYI before you make your prediction:
WASHINGTON

PASS DEFENSE- 120

RUSHING DEFENSE- 38

TOTAL DEFENSE- 90

TOTAL OFFENSE- 12

TEXAS

PASS DEFENSE- 95

RUSHING DEFENSE- 3

TOTAL DEFENSE - 23

TOTAL OFFENSE - 9

I think the advanced stats presented here are more useful than stats based on total yardage. We have given up a good number of passing yards but we know that it mostly due to making teams one dimensional. Advanced stats show that teams have a low success rate when passing and a low EPA (estimated points added) when passing.

The Athletic interviewed nine Pac-12 coaches and got their anonymous feedback on Washington. Here's their bottom line on the matchup with Texas:

"Most of the coaches we spoke to said they could see this one going either way but leaned toward Texas.

“I think Texas will present different problems for them that teams in our league couldn’t,” said a Pac-12 head coach. “Those two inside guys (T’Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy) are a lot better than any (defensive tackles) in the Pac-12, and I don’t think Washington is particularly strong there.

“They’ll be able to disrupt things for Washington’s offense and a lot of their stuff is shots down the field that are long-developing plays. Penix isn’t going to have time. I also think Sark and his receivers can take advantage of a secondary that we didn’t think was very good at all.”
