Patterson is interviewing Strong today

Strong wouldn't be my first choice but the notion people somehow know he would suck here or is weak is funny. He's a solid...real football coach

(sorry if a repeat)

This was ESPN yesterday (updated at 10pm last night) --

The athletic directors at Texas and Louisville exchanged voicemails Tuesday, but Texas AD Steve Patterson did not ask to speak to Cardinals head coach Charlie Strong, Louisville AD Tom Jurich told ESPN.
Patterson left a voicemail Tuesday morning with Jurich, who told ESPN that he returned Patterson's call within 20 minutes and left his own voicemail.

Jurich said Patterson did not request permission to speak with Strong about filling the Longhorns' coaching vacancy, and Jurich did not grant permission in his voicemail.

Watch how posters, on all blogs, start expressing their undying love for Briles - if Baylor takes apart UCF tonight (A very good team, by-the-way).

Briles or Strong are good coaches.

But still means we settled with 5 or 6 better choices out there.

Everyone would love Jim Harbaugh or Nick Saban but the prospects of getting them aren't good.

The Texas job is a big job, no question. However, it's a two way street. The coach has to agree to take the job.

Charlie Strong is a very good coach. He has Florida connections and some of the best high schools so Texas doesn't have to rely solely on Texas talent. He rebuilt Louisville quickly from the dumpster fire it was under Kragthrope. He would be a very good option for Texas.
