Hey HornNdriftwood, don't confuse Bellmont for the steamrollers and Steve Hicks....two very different and separate entities. Steve is in the BoR & BMD circle...definitely NOT the Bellmont circle. In fact, he's one of the number one guys on the warpath against Bellmont as it exists prior to the Patterson hiring.

when did Saban pass them up? The financial issues have been mentioned even by Bama sources on various outlets. No offense but I know for a fact JS on IT has some ridiculous connections. If someone is getting played then someone very very high up in the coaching search is getting played and that seems hard to believe. Doesnt make Saban a lock as there is still so much that has to go right before Jan, but I have little doubt people in this change circle who pushed Deloss out, hired patterson, and have told Powers its time for Mack to retire feel really good about their chances

Definitely not a Bama fan. Lived in Ft. Hood texas most my life, my first game in Austin was Nov 24 1988 vs tamu(not the best first game). Like i said, thats all i work with just about, alabama fans, sprinkle in some tennessee and some georgia fans. but they arent saying anything. they said that none of their insiders have said a word since the spring when they got wind that Sexton had spoken with UT people. other than that they said Sexton did his job and got Saban what he wanted, new contracts and raises for his assistants. these schools are just too big and the names involved are too big for it to not be known by insiders on both sides.

i've read he has lost a lot of money from real estate deals. it just seems that he can't trust the BMD's at Bama.

plus, i think he is ready for a new challenge and for him to be the first coach to win championships at three different schools.
