Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

I saw on another site that the original tweet said he had been asked to leave before it was deleted.
I think there may have been some backtracking there because I saw Hamilton at IT mention the staff was surprised by it.

I'm glad he is getting his chance. He's got the better arm than Quinn but does he have the finesse? That first pass last week was a bullet behind the receiver. I think that he knows he's got a big arm and likes to fire the ball no matter if the receiver is 20 yards or 5 yards away.

Quinn definitely needs another year. I just don't see him being drafted 1st round.

Saturday could be quite interesting. Will play calling stay the same? Will the defencebe better?
the basic calls will be the same, but we might see a new wrinkle that Maalik is comfortable with, maybe a whole lot like last year when Sark was forced to go with HC.....the defense has no choice but to improve, if Sark didnt have a come to Jesus meeting with PK then he isn't the coach I think he is, this is where we miss Gary Patterson, I think on the other side Paul Chryst will be helpful with Maalik, his rep as a QB coach could come into play here

Here is one other reason I think MM will do well and let me use my words carefully. MM is one of the homeboys, he came from the hood in SoCal so there is a certain built in trust that QE will never have , its a cultural thing, also Im a long time Longhorn homer and the backup QB has had some historic success on the 40 Acres, historically they have always rallied around the back up raising them to legendary status

I agree! Tremendous opportunity for MM.

I've seen Murphy's fastball... it's jaw dropping. I'm not sure he has a change-up. I believe he may be a more natural (vocal type) leader than Ewers. But we really don't know how he will react to being the game-day starter. And we don't know how he will read defenses - beyond picking out the scholarship player to throw to, when he is guarded by a walk-on (Spring Game reference).

I don't know how old you are... but I do not believe the younger generations look at things like this the same way people did.... say in the 80s. I don't think this is an issue, either way -- if I'm interpreting what you are saying correctly.

My thoughts, too. If you're going to be throwing fastballs, they better be placed precisely or receivers can't adjust as much or make catches too far away from their body. I'm confident Sark coaches him relentlessly on this stuff so we'll have to see the results on the field. Sark has commented that MM has a turnover issue (I don't recall his exact words) that he needs to fix. Again, Sark will be coaching that into him relentlessly this week. Then there's the whole reading defenses challenge that comes with experience. Defenses will be doing everything they can to confuse him. I suspect play calls from Sark will be adjusted for his experience level. Should be an interesting game and hopefully the entire team plays well.

I think you need to do more film study.
I do not record games for film study. It to look at conterversal plays refs. decisions etc. Not sure on whatyou want me to look at on Baxters play.He scored the winning TD, however there are a lot of colledge backs that could made the run as stated beautiful blocking.

If this goes back to Brooksshould have the season, there are more reasons why that is not talent alone.
