if HC transfers out do you honestly think some QB would come to Texas in the hopes of sitting on the bench, makes no sense at all, do you think MM or CW are going to stick around to be QB3 and QB4
Guess it would depend on just how much of a true QB competition there will be.  Sark said as much.  If I am honest about it if an experienced QB comes do you think on the merits that QE would be able to beat him out.  Right now I don’t have confidence that he could.  You mentioning MM and CW transferring out that would mean we would absolutely need to go out and get at least 1 QB because at that point it would just be Quinn and Arch.  If Sark can truly sell the best QB will play there might be someone out there that thinks they can beat him out.  Don’t k ow but I hope Sark can figure out the QB room.

Looking at the QB play for the Big12 championship I have to admit I am a bit concerned.  We have Ewers with an elite arm for sure but he is seems to be lacking in his work ethic.  I cannot say for sure because I have no inside info on his practices but just looking at his body language, lack of awareness, and the reliance strictly on his arm talent and not good mechanics I have serious doubts about his development. Then there is Malik which I hear has a great arm as well but is very green and would likely be over his head in a game.  Next Charles Wright who just does not have the level of talent that is needed.  And last Arch who no doubt will be a good QB at some point but likely is not ready for the speed at the college level.  The question is should we look for a seasoned reliable QB on the portal?  Basically what we lost in Hudson. If Ewers fails to develop or gets hurt I just don’t think we have what is needed at the position.  Feel free to enlighten me and squash my concerns at QB for next year.
Max Dugan had a great year. He came out of HS as the 5th ranked Dual QB our backup RB, RoJo, was the 6th ranked Dual QB in the class.

Will Howard was a 3 star out of HS and performed well enough to help his team.

Next year we will have the #1 QB in 2021, # 12 QB in 2022, and #1 QB in 2023.

I’d be willing to bet the majority of college football programs would trade their QB room for ours in a heart beat.

Just for the readers who read things that are not there.

Wish Texas had  QB that is a competer like Sam.

And to some if they think Texas has A QB that competes like Duggan I doubt thier eyesight

nothing against Ewers or any other player.

It’s clear Easttex that you’re not a Ewers fan. Ewers may not be a competitor “like” Sam but that doesn’t mean he is not a competitor. You may be willing to pass judgement on his future as a QB, at Texas as well as Texas’ with him at QB after this season but I think I’ll wait to see how things play out. Hope you find a way to enjoy our bowl win, Big 12 Chanlionship, and CFP appearance next year in spite of Ewers being the QB.?

Duggan is a senior. Even Duggan hasn't always competed like Duggan.

Max Duggan wasn’t a good qb until this year his senior season. His freshman season had a 113 qbr. Ewers qbr this season his freshman year is 131. VYs qbr was 131 his freshman year. Colt was better as a freshman but not much better as a sophomore. You are making a value judgement of his work ethic when you can’t even see what work he puts in. All we can see is his game play.

I don’t think I can quash your concerns.  But I’m looking forward to next year. I think we will be fine.

I am not against Ewers hope he wins two Heismans if that means Texas is winning big again.

What I am against posters ( you are not one) who read things that are not there in my posts

If they think they see any slight vs Ewers out somes the excuses thatdoes not pertain to original post.

I forgot the smilie on Sams post.Hope this clears things for you on how I feel about Ewers.

Honest guestion Do you think Ewers is the competer as Dugan. This to me is not skills or experence just fire in the gut.

He di this year and last year do not know about the rest. It has been my experence that 10 year oldssome have and some do not. Baseball that is.

It is a trait you are born with. Players and coaches too.

Do not belive I said Ewers is not a competer. May be another poster assuming that what I meant.

You're wanting a comparison between a senior and a freshman.

Having skills and experience contributes directly to confidence, which enables fire in the gut to happen.

Another point – no two QBs are alike. One may be emotional and leads that way. One may have ice cold nerves and lead an entirely different way. Think Kenny Stabler.

Both those guys are seniors. How many games have they played ? Plenty.
when Ewers has that much experience you will find out how wrong you are

And you did say “I wish Texas has a competer” which implies Ewers is not a competitor
If you are going to quote me please quote the whole senance not just part to try and prove your point.

did you pay attention this year, do you think there was a true QB competition, Charles Thompson transferred out, Hudson Card is transferring....Sark made it very clear he was willing to die on the hill with QE as QB1, even after HC played well while QE was hurt, with the Golden Child Arch coming to town what QB in the country is coming in behind that. I even see a future QB controversy in 2024 when QE is a junior and AM is a RS freshman

Honest answer. I don’t judge Ewers by Dugan in any category. They are two different individuals. I try to assess the total performance when their time is completed. I liked Sam‘s heart,  not his accuracy. I liked Vince’s athleticism, not his throwing. I liked Colt’s moxie, not his discretion. I like Ewers potential, not his inexperience. When he leaves Texas, I’ll be ready to assess his overall QB play while at Texas. I’m sure even then there will be things I like better than others about him. Just as there has been about all of the others I’ve seen from the 70s on.

I think Sark wants a mia culpa if QE does not turn in to the QB he thought he would be.  If he is the man why would you open up the QB competition unless you are not sure that he will in fact be the number 1 QB after spring training.  Would he have a competition in the running back room with Bijan? What about wide receiver and Worthy?   Those two players are cemented at their positions.  But you are right it would take a cocky sob to come in to that situation of QE and AM.

Ewers is what he is. Manning is as ready as a freshman can be. Gets to go through spring practices.

Just wish Texas has a competer like Duggan or Rissing borh have that will to win.
You asked that I reply to your whole post. Well here it is. You said you wish Texas has a competer like Duggan or Rissing borh have that will to win.

This is a negative slight on Ewers. I hope you can see that.

Agre 100%. Put Sams heart in Ewers or Ewers arm on Sam and you wpuld have two all americans.

Saying Ewers is not the competitor Duggan (  evver put itthat way) is not slighting Ewers. Hope you can see that.

Maybe your eyesight is part of the problem with your typing. I know for sure that your typing is not good. Not sure about your eyes; but there seems to be a problem there as well.
