What has happened to those players in the 2019 class who left Texas?

  • *Bru McCoy (USC > Texas > USC > Tenn) has 20 catches for 351 yards and 2 TDs
  • Jake Smith  looks like he may have medically retired?
  • Tyler Johnson appears to not have played in any games for U of H
  • De'Gabriel Floyd is now at Alabama A&M as a safety and has 6 tackles
  • Tyler Owens has 7 total tackles for TTU (no more than 3 in a game)
  • Kenyatta Watson has 1 tackle for GaTech
  • Jared Wiley has 5 catches for 39 yards and 2 TDs for TCU
  • *Marcus Washington started every game for Nebraska and has 18 catches for 226 yards
  • Chris Adimora has 9 total tackles this year, but 4 of them were in the first game of the year for SMU
  • Myron Warren is at Texas State and has 1 tackle
  • *Caleb Johnson is at Miami via UCLA has 10 total tackles
  • Kennedy Lewis is at UTSA but has no stats
  • *Willie Tyler has started every game this year for Rutgers at LT
  • Juwann Mitchell has been a starter for Tennessee at some points and has 4 total  tackles
  • Marques Caldwell and Marcus Tillman are at Juco
  • Javonne Shepherd doesn't appear to be playing football

Bru McCoy made the clutch catch to put Tenn in field goal range to beat Alabama

It feels natural to judge a college football team based on the most rescent game. After the Alabama game where we outplayed the "best" team in the country we felt unbeatable. After the TT game the sky was falling. After the 0U game we again felt unbeatable.

Today we survived a game that we could have just as easily lost, much like the TT game, but pulling out the win allows us to feel mostly okay.

To me this feels like a team with the potential to be a top 5 team, if and only if they can figure out how to play consistently at a high level. So far that hasn't happened,  and unless they can figure out how to do that going forward we will be lucky to end the season ranked in the top 25.

For me, this Texas team needs to go 3-2 in the next 5 and it's a successful season in my eyes.  I'm not wavering off my 8-4 prediction.  That's where we are.

If you were to tell me they would go 8-4 at the beginning of the year I would've said hell yes.  Plus they put a beat down on OU, even better.

I want to see consistency.  I’ve seen how good this team is when they play well.  3-2 over the next 5 would likely mean inconsistency.  I’m not in for moral victories.

Only 1 loss in the next five is acceptable given the talent and potential and they most certainly can run the table.  But the range at which they play up and down to opponents a combined with youth means it will be likely be within 2-4 losses.

Exactly.  3-2 from here would be a passing grade, but not playing up to the potential of what we saw in the Alabama and 0u games.

I get it what you're saying, but I kept my expectations at a lower level.  Having 3 Fr OL (Banks and Hutson True and Connor RS), a FR QB and some young players on D.  I get that Texas has a vet RB duo and JWhitt, but this is younger team at key positions that may not play at a consistent level all the time.

3 wins over last year is solid growth for me.

Seeing that Texas gave 3 games away last year that they led in, they should’ve finished 8-4 last year.  This roster is more talented than last year, even with starting youngvOL.  If I see 9-3 I’ll be happy, but I want to see the defense grow and improve schematically

I will be disappointed if we lose another game this season.
With any team you can only ask that they play to the best of their ability. Sometimes a team can do that and still lose games.
We have seen a few instances this year of what this team is capable of doing on the field when playing to their ability. There are not many teams who can beat this group if they play at a high level and none of those teams are on our schedule.
We are still to inconsistent for me to say we will win out but I absolutely believe we should. If we don’t it will be our own fault.

Just watched the end of Utah and USC.
During the last USC drive they threw an interception but there was a defensive interference call. The Utah player ran the ball back and when he went out of bounds there was 8 seconds left in the game. The officials marked off the 15 yard penalty and then said USC called a time out during the run so they put 13 seconds on the clock.
How does a team get awarded a timeout in the middle of a play when the other team has the ball?

I don’t know how USC pulls out a time out with the ball in play!!!  But it was a great game to watch.

Actually, the INT DID happen. The play was still live as you can't blow the play dead over a pass interfearance call. Kinda like off sides and the proverbial "free play."

USC should have never been awarded a time out because the play was still live. That was the most idiotic officiating I've seen in a while. PAC-12 officiating earns the rep they have.

I thought they said it was an inadvertent whistle and they called the play dead mistakenly. Should have only been 5-6 seconds left on the clock. Time for 1 play. Luckily, Utah didn't get screwed.
