Lucky we got this guy from the portal! Oh wait, he was here last year and got overlooked.
as I remember it, we did  not even want him to play TE. We wanted him as the edge rusher. We only agreed to allow him a chance on offense to get him to sign here.I do not for even one second agree that we just did not know how to use him at TE.....He had to learn alot to play there however....

Not too much.  He played WR in High School.

Cool story. Now you made me look him up, I had no idea of his story beyond last Saturday.

Initially viewed strictly as a defensive edge prospect in the long term, but offensive playmaking ability and potential are increasingly obvious as high school career has progressed. More engaged and more consistent in his impact on offense. Production both ways as a junior was great, but was clearly better on offense as a senior. One of the most unique prospects in the 2021 class. High-major impact player we expect to play tight end who possesses long-term early-round NFL Draft potential.

It doesn't look like we taught him to run, catch, block, or tackle. looks like he already knew how in high school.

Last year is last year, so I don't care. He appears to be a pivotal piece of the puzzle. Damn glad.

We certainly had to teach him how to block, was not a strength of his (still isn't) as a high school WR. He seems to have held his own in week 1 in that regard but will need to continue to develop that aspect of his game. The running and catching, he's got that down.

Annual Texas vs TT game seems much less likely based on this article.

I would much rather see us playing them every 2 or 3 years, and rotating other Texas schools for non conference games.

My hope is one non conference game is an easy warm up game, another against a Texas team which rotates, and then a third game against a mid major team.

Yes, and the Texas team they play should be in the Houston/Dallas metroplex area, not the Lubbock wastelands.
