Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

I look forward to the group that has the courage and initiative to win the Big 12 Conference. Lets give activists ping pong scholarships.

Brainiacs had a very nice update today on the WR group. I'll summarize:

1. Expecting big things from Brennan Eagles. Whole staff is fired up about him. Optimism is so high one source said he expects this could be Eagles final year at the 40. One source for SK said Eagles was better right now than Collin J was at the end of last season.

2. If the team were to play today, Eagles, Marcus Washington, and Jake Smith would be your starters. That means your 2nd string is Whittington, Moore and Black, who could start just about anywhere else.

3. Staff expects a big year from Washington. Remember, Ohio State said this kid was too slow. lol
Is Black working at the X receiver? With Moore and Washington at Z? Feel really good about those 6 guys. And still young guys like Lewis, Omeire, and Dixon behind them.

Black is just now starting to participate in drills. He's been injured and trying to recover. So he really hasn't worked at anything yet but I hear they want him outside.

Pretty good qroup of recievers. Best thing is except Black they will all return.

Maybe with a great year could go pro.

Much of the staff thinks Eagles could be gone after this season. If he has the right season, he'll go to the league. They're really high on him right now.

Omg, it just hit me regarding the playmakers Texas can put on the field at one time with Sam: Bijan, JWhitt, Eagles, and J.Smith.  The ball skills, speed and quickness of all those guys on the field at the same time is downright nasty and should have defenses scared to death. Last time i can remember a group like this was J. Charles, Limas Sweed, Billy Pittman and R. Taylor.  If only Brewer could be like D. Thomas and of course they had VY (Sam is not at VY level in terms of athleticism, but he has other intangibles that have him in the ballpark)

This is taking nothing away from Ingram, RoJo, Black, Moore, Washington, and Woodard. Collectively, this entire group may be better than the 2005 team on paper (not including VY in that group). Yurcich is going to have a field day with all these combinations to create mismatches.

This group has me like:

College football's best players no one is talking about

KEONDRE COBURN, DT, TEXAS

Career glance: 28 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 2 sacks

The skinny: As a redshirt freshman last season, the game seemed to slow down for Coburn, who was efficient from the interior as a player who routinely disrupted what was happening in the backfield. One of Coburn's top qualities was shifting where the play was going — even if he didn't make the stop or qualify for a hurry. To say he's a load at 6-2, 350 is an understatement and his best days appear to be ahead of him.

so we finally get a team and it is possible they will not even play this year.

If Texas does not win big this year then when.

This is the 64K question. Everything is lined up in Texas' favor this year.

Great, experienced QB and leadership. Tons of weapons for the offense and an experienced OL. Defensively new energy with a new scheme and DC, tons of talent along the front 7 and a secondary that is both deep and talented.

If not now, then when?

247 reporting, in addition to Black, that RB Keaontay Ingram, WR Jordan Whittington and WR Al'vonte Woodard are all dealing with hamstring injuries which have sidelined them temporarily.

They should be ready for fall camp on August 7th.

Looks like our game with LSU will not take place. OTOH, this is a death sentence for aggy's season.

OTOH, there's 14 teams in the SEC, so the best any OOC team can hope for is #15 in the final polls since losses to another SEC team don't count because of their awesome power.  So the ags could lose every game and still end the season ranked #14.

Looking like they’ll get Georgia and Florida added to their schedule.  Two more losses
