Think you are missing STP's point.....he is not saying Texas could beat anyone...just that Arkansas is a decent, but not great team.

I think even today that for sure if they were in the Big 12 they would lose to TCU, Baylor, and KSU...and then would likely lose 1-2 more games, because 2 of those others would score a bunch and force them out of their comfort zone and make them play catch up.

Right now, the way they are playing I think the only sure victory for Texas would be Kansas...anything else would be a toss up at best.

I don't think Arkansas is a "great" team either. I think they are a team that is now coming into it's own. They are not the same team today as the one that started the season. They are much, much better.

That said, he keeps pounding home the "last place" mantra which flies in the face of what you're suggesting his point is. If they're decent, why does he keep pointing to last place to emphasize their inferior position?

Arkie would plow a new one in KSU right now. I give you TCU and Baylor but those are games that would have both our private schools sweating bullets. TCU's defense is good, but that OL of Arkie can move about whatever it wants, whenever it wants to.

i doubt we beat any of them. maybe aggy is we got them in austin. 

but that's my point...we're not very good. and my larger point which i made in this and other threads is that instead of improving as the season went along (like arky clearly did) we regressed and were arguably playing our worst ball at seasons end. to me THAT is on charlie.

read my first post on page one. this was originally a thread about giving charlie credit and although some things were out of his control, i don't think he gets a complete pass this year.

Read my post more carefully. I never said you said it. I said you thought it. And obviously, you're hung up on "last place" while seemingly ignoring the SEC West thing.

In your first graph, you admit we can't beat a decent defense. Yet, you also argue that Arkansas is lousy. Which will it be? Are they decent or are they lousy? They hung 31 on what you think is a good defense. Riddle me that, will ya?

Could Texas finish 6-6 had they had to play in the SEC West? Yea, I think Arkansas is way better than average. They'll compete with Bama for the SEC West title next year. They only lost to Bama by 1. Aggy lost by 59.

They were better than we were, before - during - and after that bowl game. If Texas isn't at least average, then we had no business being in a bowl at all.

And for the record, they hung 24 on a good defense not 31. I "riddle that" from the field advantage they had over us throughout the game. Go look at where their drives started versus where ours started.

And while we're at it, I'll throw this out here. With the field advantage they had and the time of possession advantage (41 m to 19 m) their offense should have scored far more than 24 points on us. And they would have if they were way better than average.

I do think Texas would have finished either 1-5 or 0-6 in the SEC West.

Apologies, I got you mixed up with STP for a moment there i guess.

Part of the reason we had sucky field position is that their offense moved the ball, ours did not.

I never said we are a bad defense. But we are a defense that is thin and cannot withstand an entire game against an OL that is both huge and has at least two first rounds picks in it.

Aside from the OL, they had TWO 1K yd rushers and while some criticize their QB, he drove the bus and did so pretty well. They controlled the game through time of possession and capitalizing on our mistakes.

To our credit, our defense hung as long and as best it could.

I think we all have our moments. This clearly isn't one of mine But that's secondary to this miserable feeling I have about the game. I just want to keep taking showers to wash it off.
