How big of an upset is this Mark? 

In the national poll, Cedar Hill is ranked 21st and DeSoto is/was 6th. DeSoto is ranked #2 in Texas while Cedar Hill is not ranked (listed in other teams receiving votes).

This is a big rivalry regardless of the records, has been for years. The two communities butt up to each other. The kids know each other.

The upset probably isn't an OMG type thing, but does raise some eyebrows as DeSoto was cruising along untouched and showing no weakness. Cedar Hill lost to Dallas Skyline in early September. Skyline is no slouch (ranked #6 in Texas).

I'm surprised, but only mildly.

Yeah, having grown up in the metroplex, I am familiar w/the rivalry over there.

Don't have a final score, but El Dorado was up 49-6 over Gentry w/6:22 to go in 4Q is the latest update I've seen.

Since Texas is pursuing DeMarkus Lodge of Cedar Hill, let's look at his performance last night:

– 7 receptions for 235 yards and 3 touchdowns.

– He had touchdown receptions of 70 yards (1st qtr), 87 yards (3rd qtr) and 13 yards (4th qtr)

– 1 rush for 7 yards.

My thoughts – one thing you want in a player is someone who shows up in big games. Folks, it doesn't get any bigger than Cedar Hill vs DeSoto, especially when DeSoto is riding high with a #2 state ranking. DeSoto's defensive backs are some of the best you'll see on the HS level. Yet Lodge, despite being the primary target and obviously heavily scouted by DeSoto, showed up big time against some of the best the state has to offer.

Thanks for your help, STP. One thing that's tough for me to find are pairings for the SA and Austin area. Express-News lists about 2-3 games and thats it.
