SignUp Now!Miss. State has a very good receiver returning in Jameon Lewis. Another good receiver in Robert Johnson and pretty nice tight end in Malcolm Johnson. Also, returning 3 of 5 starters on the offensive line (but really 4 out of 5 because one of their backups saw a lot of the minutes). They also have a young running back coming back in Josh Robinson that averaged 5.9 yards per carry, just didn't see much time because he was behind a senior. They have some pieces on offense when you add Prescott.
On defense they are only losing one starter on the defensive line, one linebacker and one secondary player. McKinney is a very good linebacker and Market is one of the best safeties in the SEC.
They have plenty of returning talent to at least challenge for a 3rd place SEC west finish next year IMO. If Prescott is a star like I think he is, they can make noise next year. Miss. State was in almost every game this year and they are returning almost everyone.
How many FBS teams actually play two FCS schools in a season? For that matter, other than the SEC how many FBS teams play any FCS schools? It's one thing to schedule a team a few years out and when the game rolls around the team is having a down year. It's entirely another thing to seek out FCS teams to play on a regular basis.I believe only one win can count towards bowl eligibility if you play 2 FCS schools. I'm just curious which critical positions are filled with good players for Miss. State? As for Prescott embarrassing A&M, what QB didn't?
If they go 7-5 that will be their 15th national championship in the modern era.I will give'em 7-5 them aggies which will fight a let down to the end.
by "modern era" you must mean since joining the SEC.If they go 7-5 that will be their 15th national championship in the modern era.
I agree with the first four wins.Losing Manziel, Evans and Matthews, 75% of their offense which netted four losses. Must find a new QB, plug a hole in the OL and somehow get their defense to stop someone in 2014.
PROBABLE WINS

Ole Miss
PROBABLE LOSSES
South Carolina

I put Rice in the "could go either way" category because they've improved and will catch Aggy early on the schedule, perhaps before Aggy gets it figured out. Arkansas is at a neutral site, but they show up well in Dallas. Ole Miss should continue to improve as the results of their recruiting starts to show. Aggy has had some nice recruiting in the last two years and some of that young talent got some PT late in the season. Should be interesting.
oopsWow! My compliments to this entire community. I don't think I've ever read a Texas board Aggy related thread without some serious bashing. This has been very refreshing, a serious discussion. I love this board.
Aggy loves to talk about the "modern era" and"since we became aco-ed university" and crap like that to try and create the image the school was a sleepy, all-male school at a disadvantage to other schools. It's a load of crap. Texas started playing football in 1893, but it wasn't until D/X/ Bible came to campus in 1937 that the Longhorn football program really began to play as an elite program. The first Texas team to even be ranked number one in the nation during the season was the 1941 team that beat the number two ranked aggy team in its next to last game. By 1941, aggy had seen teams that had not only been undefeated, but also unscored on. TCU (1938) and aggy (1939) both had finished the season ranked number on in the polls before Texas was ranked number one during the season. DKR's 1963 team was the first Texas team to finish the season ranked number one. It is an absolute fallacy to state aggy couldn't compete on an equal footing with Texas until their "modern era" but of course that doesn't stop them from making such claims. Being an all-male school half the size of other co-ed schools pretty much means the male population of the two schools were the same. Aggy just went into an extended period of suckage for most of the past 75 years, seemingly ending with a fifth place finish in their conference and a seventh place finish in their conference, both fueled by the spectacular play of the greatest human ever to play the game of football. If they go 7-5 that will be their 15th national championship in the modern era.
