Hermann needs to go

The whole Saban fiasco was because the donors acting from their own interest.  They got played by Saban’s agent who parlayed it into a big raise.  Saban was never coming to Texas, plain and simple.  The donors made a mess and a fool of Texas.

I’m tired of Herman too.  But say he wins out, loses to OU in the Ccg and bitch slaps aTm in the sugar bowl.  Fire him at 9-3?  You can’t offer UM until Herman has been fired.  Urban turns it down then you look like a dumbass program again.  Then what?
You have the Saban thing wrong. Saban was coming at one point before it got spoiled. Leaking out info way prematurely ruined it because Saban still cared about his team. And it had got back to his team. He was put in a situation he could not do anything but retreat from. Then Mack Brown became the thing that wouldn't leave.

So no, we didn't get played. We played ourselves. I was afraid so much UM talk so early was going to do the same thing.

We're not bitch slapping aggy in any bowl this year. They're a good football team right now. We're not.

I know one thing.  Saban has never coached the Longhorns.  Anything else doesn’t matter.  If the donors are take it upon themselves to call prospective coaches, they need to learn to keep it quiet.

I actually think it would be a good game right now.  Texas is a talented team and Herman is better as an underdog.  The bitch slapping part was hypothetical part of the equation too.

I just think all the donors are going to cost Texas a shot at another proven coach if they keep it up

Well, it mattered when you posted about it? But not now?

I don't want to play aggy. They would get scoreboard and we'd never hear the end of it. It would confirm everything they say about us.

We're talented, but poorly coached and are undisciplined. Winning is hard.

That one goes in the organizer!

We should never again play the rat bastards unless it is a CFP match up.

The part that doesn’t matter is the reasons why.  Texas got Saban a raise and extension.  I’ll even concede on the why, is that better?  It doesn’t really matter because it’s all a “what if” anyway.  Texas still sucks.

I think the game would be better than most would expect.  If case McCoy can beat them surely “all world Sam” could too right?!  I believe Mond would be on his butt most of the game.  Hard to score a lot like that.

yes, winning is hard.  Really hard

Every time Texas looks at someone, they get a raise. Nothing new there. And Saban was already making millions per year, what was another mil per year to him?

Aggy OL is good so I don't think Mond would be sacked more than once or twice. I hate aggy as much as anybody here, but I've seen them play good teams. They are a good team.

With our OL, we'd be made one-dimensional because our OL sucks so bad we wouldn't have a run game. Our WRs aren't good enough to carry the load alone, like our WRs were last year.

I think we'd play hard, but I think we'd find out we're not in their league at the moment.

We lost to TCU and OU at their worst. We're #20 (yea!). We're talking about firing our HC and the lack of development here.

Aggy lost to Bama and is ranked #6 or so. They beat Florida at Florida. Jimbo will have them in a New Year's Day Bowl, if not a CFP game.

If you don’t want to take my word on this then take a little time and see what was happening in the months heading up to Mack’s resignation with the people involved in this power play (pardon the pun). I was told this by a booster who definitely has enough stroke to know what happens behind the scenes.
A couple of the more renegade donors had decided they wanted Mack gone so they met with Dodds and told him they wanted a change. Of course Dodds and Mack were good friends and he told them he supported Mack completely and that was out of the question. As you might expect the boosters didn’t like being told no so they decided if Dodds wouldn’t play along then it was time for a new AD. Next they set a meeting with Bill Powers (UT President at the time) and told him they wanted Mack gone and Dodds won’t do it so they wanted Dodds moved out. As you might expect Power’s didn’t appreciate them telling him who to hire or fire so he refused as well. He basically told them he didn’t work for them and as the President he made those decisions based on what was best for the University not by pressure from Alumni. The boosters were not happy with Powers response but instead of taking no for an answer they decided it was time for a new President or at least someone to push him to “play along”. This is the tricky part because the President doesn’t have a direct supervisor he answers to the Board of Regents so in order for him to be convinced or dismissed they would need enough Regents to agree. That would take a massive amount of time and convincing so they decided it would be more efficient to have a couple of new Regents that represented their agenda. They decided a meeting with Governor Perry was needed. They made an appointment and explained to him the whole story and what the needed. During this meeting they gave him two options. He could appoint a few regents that they wanted and they would generously give to his campaign fund or he could choose not to make the appointments and they would contribute enough money to whoever his next opponent was to ensure they won. Unlike the other folks these guys approached Slick Rick was a die hard politician and really enjoyed his position. He also had higher aspirations and knew these were the kind of people he needed on his side so he agreed to help. Perry was never a big fan of Bill Powers but he really turned up the heat in the early part of 2013. He basically told him to get on board, resign or be fired. The soured relationship between Perry and Powers was well documented in the press. The reason for the sudden urgency however was not made public. With the increased pressure being applied Powers told Dodds  it was probably time to move on because he would not be able to protect him much longer. In October Dodds made the announcement he would be resigning as the AD. Mack knowing what was next followed suit and retired in December. Powers bought himself a couple of years but probably didn’t enjoy them.

Do not underestimate what the UT  big money donors, or any billionaire for that matter, are capable of doing once they set their mind on something

Aggy can be had. They had to come from behind to beat UF at Kyle field. They only scored 28 against a first year Leach team. And arky put 31 on them at Kyle field. I think our defense would keep us in the game. Dicker the Kicker for the win!

Florida is a very good team. I wouldn't complain about beating them or even how I beat them.

They beat Leach 28-14. Leach beat LSU in his first game at MSU.

Arkie scored 31 against aggy. Tech scored 56 on us.

You forgot to mention the sound 48-3 thumping of SC. A week later, Muschamp was fired despite a $13 million buyout.

1. USCe has been bad the enitre Muschamp tenure.

2. Leach teams are notorious for sucking during his first couple of years.

3. I will never admit aggy is better than us.

This transitive property analysis doesn't account for aggy choking.

?? I had to come comment me use someone told I often had to be corrected... and that person didn’t know how to spell a name. And now that person just said a&m beat Florida at Florida... ??.. that guy was corrected & never admitted he made a mistake there. ??

But on this topic. Gotta fire Herman. He’s been terrible developing the top 5 classes he signed. If you say it’s on the position coaches to develop the players, then you should still fire him because he hired them. He gets out coached by Riley and Patterson. The offense is stagnant & it’s his offense. You lost a legacy recruit whose brother is on the team. The best player in the state for 2022 grew up loving the school and committed. Then decommitted. Not only does he not keep the best players in the state, he cannot keep the best players in his own backyard. Hi Garret Wilson. The team is undisciplined. The team cannot blow any team out because Herman refuses to score when he’s got the lead. I’m tired of every half ending with a run on first for a short gain or a loss. A run on second down for a moderate gain. A pass for an incompletion on 3 & 6. It’s maddening watching this man run a Big 10 strategy in the Big 12. He has to go. Otherwise we’re delaying the inevitable. We waste a lot of talent that someone like Urban Meyer can maybe salvage.

It looks like no competition from USC as far as Urban.

THE CLAY HELTON GOOD LUCK TOUR ROLLS ON

The Dash has long been an admirer of the ability of USC coach Clay Helton (17) to doggedly cling to employment. He has been more lucky than good since Sam Darnold left school, and the good fortune has continued (perhaps even escalated) this season.

The compendium of good breaks:

* A 12-game schedule that was supposed to include games against Alabama, Notre Dame, Oregon and Washington was reduced to a six-game schedule that includes none of those opponents.

  • A deflected-pass touchdown, onside kick and another touchdown all were required in the final three minutes to pull out a miracle win against Arizona State (18).

  • With a game under their belt, the Trojans in Week 2 faced an Arizona (19) team picked last in the Pac-12 South, playing its first game of the season and first game in 352 days. Yet the Wildcats led in the final minute, when a Kedon Slovis pass slid through an Arizona player’s hands and went right to Amon-Ra St. Brown for a first down inside the 10-yard line. USC scored what would be the winning touchdown on the next play.

  • With two games under their belt, the Trojans Saturday faced the last team in America to play a 2020 football game, Utah (20). The Utes looked very much like a team that had gone 327 days between games. USC won, 33–17.

So here Helton sits, 3–0 and with the next three scheduled games all in greater Los Angeles: Colorado on Saturday, Washington State on Dec. 4, and then at UCLA on Dec. 12. Win the first two and the Pac-12 South will belong to the Trojans. Will a coach get fired amid a budget-straining pandemic while winning his division?

It’s not out of the question that Clay Helton is two wins away from securing a lucky seventh season at USC. Stay tuned.
