One thing Herman has shown is his ability to be consistently inconsistent. Good programs, even in down years, are consistent. You can call it playing to the competition or playing off emotions but as Herman said himself “if our A team shows up instead of our B team we can win” (paraphrased). Good programs always have their A team show up. They may not be as good as the opponents A team each week but you know what to expect from your guys. Good coaches build a foundation, a culture of success. Herman does not have that ability. Even if we win out (won’t happen) we will start next season, and every season, back at square one with a team that randomly beats a better opponent and inexplicably loses to a worse one. In the back room there is zero support for Herman or worry that it “looks bad” to spend money after cut backs in the department. The buyout will come from outside revenue not budgeted revenue. Paying a big salary to a proven coach is a business investment with a positive return (you will make more money long term than the expenditure cost).
If or when a quality coach is secured Herman is out. One way or another we are getting off this merry go round.
