Top 5:

1. Urban

2. Urban

3. Urban

4. PJ

5. Venables

this is assuming Shannahan, Dabo, Bellecheat and Saban are untouchable.

By half time that rowboar was taking on a  lot of water. a lot of the playing looked familar.

Edit to say OL play is better in second half.

Who is worth the buyout it would take to remove Tom Herman? There's really only 3 for sure. Urban, Nick, and Dabo. Everyone else is a gamble if you don't get one of those three.

The first would still be possible. The other three not so much.

I think we should hire Mack Brown away from North Carolina a SECOND TIME. lol. Just to show we can. lol

Carolina's National Guard would be sent against us. lol

I think this is spot on.   You’re separating “elite” from great coach.  There are 2 elite programs right now and 3 elite coaches.

Ohio State is under consideration for elite status.... post Urban Ohio State that is.

Mack Brown was an excellent coach.  Our problem with him was that he wasn’t elite.  He was consistently bested by a better “great coach” and was overly loyal to assistants who were obviously not working out.

Elite coaches are darn near a sure thing.  Anything else might not be the right fit, might pick the wrong coordinator, etc... anything else is a gamble. A coordinator is OBVIOUSLY a gamble.  I think Venables has all the qualities and tutelage of a great coach... but who knows, HC is a completely different animal as a DC.  Minnesota is a completely different animal from UT.

Right now there is an elite coach sitting in the Fox studios and it looks like we will be shopping for a new HC.  It’s hard to fathom what a rare opportunity this is.  I’m rather certain that this hasn’t escaped the notice of people in a position to act on such things?

awww East Tex....leave it alone. Since my altzimers kicked in I read each one for the first time.

If Herman can win this week I think he will have generated enough buzz to stick around barring something unforeseen. Then auburn is gonna swoop in and hire urban.

Don't hold your breath on Texas winning in Stillwater

Oklahoma State always seems to play good against Texas when they are at their house
In the history of the Big 12, Okie State won the first meeting in Stillwater in 1997 and lost the next 8 games played there with six of those in the blow-out category. They have won the last two games there so that puts the series at 8-3 in favor of Texas in games at Stillwater. Okie State is 5-8 in Austin during that same time. Interesting enough they had won 5 in a row in Austin prior to last year's game.
