*****GAME THREAD: TEXAS vs. OKLAHOMA*****

I want so badly for Texas to mudhole the land thieves today. It's been a long time coming.

If Texas is leading by a significant margin in the second half and Sark goes conservative, he will immediately go on my shit list. Hook'em!
Well Baron, in the fourth quarter, Sark got very conservative with Card and Wright handing the ball off to run play after play to end the game and no passes by either QB.  I hope you reconsider your shit list?

Schools are less patient then they were in the past. Brian Harsin would love a third year but that appears unlikely. If 0u doesn't make significant improvements by the end of next year I don't think Venables will get a third year.
Snellen burger says hi.

Wish Card and Wright had player earlier. Only reason not to is Sark thinks Ewers was rusty and needed snaps.

Realy would like to see a complete second team sub when score dictates it. Think would be good for morale might cut down on transfers.

Edited to say let the second team run complete offense.

I would have liked to see Maalik Murphy get a couple snaps, but he may not be 100% healthy yet.

Yeah 5-5 record will do that.
He expected that and said so, much like he inherited at other places though not as bad.

It was the admins, alumni, boosters and such. He wouldn't put up with it in a place he didn't like in the first place. He's a South Florida guy, even before his Miami days. Norman couldn't contrast harder against a place like South Florida.

Did anyone notice the failed OU halfback or wr pass?  I was impressed that the db stayed home and so the pass was not throw, but you could see that he was holding the ball briefly to pass it.

- Kelvin Banks will be an AA and Hayden Conner is not too bad himself;
On the Inside Texas post-game reaction podcast, Justin Wells said he was told by a coach that Banks doesn't even know what he is doing yet. He's just out there as raw talent and instinct having a great season, but apparently doesn't understand the nuances of the position yet.

He'll be freshman AA this year, and could develop into a first round or 1st off the board LT in a few years.

Quit or fired he was gone andis one of two coaches at OU who does not have a winning record. Thats as far back as I can remember.

Here's the 5 OU coaches who did not have a winning record while there.

John Blake  12-22  1996-1998

Howard Schnellenberger  5-5-1  1995

Gomer Jones  9-11-1  1964-1965

Lewis Hardidge  11-12-4  1932-1934

John A. Harts  0-1  1895

Now for my Paul Harvey rest of the story.

John A. Harts was a student and elocution teacher at OU and was the primary organizer of the first football team at OU that started playing in 1895. The team was made up of students and Norman, OK residents and only played one game that year. They lost to Oklahoma City High School 34-0 and did not make a first down. Yes, you read that right. They lost to a high school and did not make a first down. John A. left OU the next year to go prospect for gold in the Artic at the ripe old age of 23.

Must have been painful to read that much about ou.

Would anyone choose to run back a kickoff on our return unit? I sure wouldn't? Not sure I have seen a number on this but very few if any of the returns end up making it to or past the 25. Just take the touchback.
