8-4 is what I'm still looking for

Prior to the season, I was hoping and rooting for an 8-4 season for these Longhorns. After last night, I'm still looking for that. I thought they might have a chance for 9-3 after the ND game, but I was brought back to reality that we have a young team with a Freshman QB. Don't get me wrong, I hate my teams losing to inferior teams, but it happens. I honestly think we will split with the Oklahoma schools, lose to Texas Tech in Lubbock, and drop another to either Baylor or Kansas State

That gets us to 8-4 and hopefully they learned a lot from this season. I'm staying with this and will not get caught up in hype again this season. Next season is a different story.
This OU game is the pivotal one. If Texas beats OU then they will get to 8-4 and Charlie will be back. Lose and Charlie will not be back. I still think we're on track this season. I hoped the defense would be better, but still on track.

UT is not on track by any means.

Unfortunately, last year was the same scenario. The season hinged on OU. We beat them, then lost to Iowa State, West Virginia, and Tx Tech.

Simply put, any good news seems like fools gold at this point.

Nope!  I see losses in Dallas (a likely boat race), @ home to WV, on the road @ KSU, on the road @ Tech and ISU will be a coin flip depending on where the teams head is at.

6-6 may very well be a best case scenario, Strong gets fired after the TCU game and recruiting takes a big hit pending whom they hire and when he is willing to take the job/step foot on the forty.

back to back 5-7 or worse is very plausible based off what we have seen.

100% agree, was just talking to my son about this.  Aren't we in the same boat we were in last year.  And I'm just as worried if not more on our record for the rest of the year.  Too many wide open Off still to face.  Maybe we can take the TT approach and just try to out score them (Gess, Did I just say that??)

Rumor is Strong called the defense in the second half...Check out the second half versus the first.

It still falls on Strong due to his loyalty to Vance.

Kansas is the only team left on the schedule that is not a superior team to the Horns. ISU looks pretty good even.

I like Strong, really wanted him to be successful and truly feel bad for him but that last sentence says it all.

If we get embarrassed by OU, CS is gone...maybe not mid-season...no matter what the results are for the rest of the season.
