Agree. I think OT and TE are the only real important positions to get. The extra DT they're wanting, we can live without. I do think at least a couple of spots will not be filled until well into football season.

Not confident that we ever flip Bowman. His NIL is stout. Maybe a TE will emerge during the season, late bloomer.

It is remarkable to me that USC is paying millions to recruits while having a budget shortfall in the tens of millions, and having to lay off staff and administration.

Maybe paying for a winning team will produce the revenue.

I wonder the same thing about Alabama who's athletics department was 28 million in red last year, yet is obviously spending big money on NIL.

I guess those schools are running their athletics departments like the politicians run our federal government. Presumably in both cases the debt will cause big problems in the future.

Ok. I'm a little torn. My wife and I scheduled to leave for Scotland on 26 August and don't return until 4 Sep. I didn't even think about the OSU. However, I'm excited because we're playing golf at St. Andrews. No, we're not playing the "Old Course", but we're playing one of the other courses. Still it's St. Andrews. Sucks that I will miss the 1st game of the season.

Go to the Queens Arms in Edinburgh if you are there that day. Great sports bar that put on NFL for me after the major soccer matches were done a few years back!

One of the things I've done in my life is trace my family tree back, on my father's side. Turns out, we were kind of a big thing in Scotland. You should visit Glamis Castle, just north of the village of Glamis. This castle was built in the 1300s I believe and has been my ancestor's home since then and to today. The castle is still run by the family, though I don't think they live there. The castle's landscape wins top awards every year.

This castle was once the home of Queen Elizabeth Lyon-Bowes. Yes, she was related to me (Mark Lyon).

Daily tours are given.

Apparently a couple of my ancestors was on hand during William Wallace's time and was close with Robert The Bruce.

I was able to trace back to the 1100s before I had to stop. You get fixated on it the further back you go because the further back you go, the more detail and info you get. We don't keep records today like they did back then.

We also must keep in mind that schools spending and NIL are really two different buckets of money.

Yes, these schools are paying out 25 million in revenue sharing to athletes. There is really no way around spending that money from the school budget to the players that are bringing in 100s of millions in revenue.

But the big money NIL we are discussing is coming from sources outside the school itself. Beyond the revenue share the schools aren't able to pay players.

Thanks. Is it on the Royal mile? We're staying right off there our 1st 3 nights then heading to St. Andrews (staying Dundee) then up to Inverness and Loch Ness. Should be fun.

Didn't he post something recently saying "Remember, the best in the state leave the state"? I think it got cut off before it was finished. "Remember, the best in the state leave the state because they're evading law enforcement". That's finished now.

Either the Horns staff is extremely lucky in recruits staying out of trouble (for the most part....looking at you Nick Brooks) or this is just another example of this staff being extremely thorough in their character judging.

If I'm not mistaken there was something that was talked about a recent recruiter we just missed that was involved in something that may have gotten into trouble. This could be the situation that was talked about but wasn't elaborated on
