So what is left? Other than flipping one or three later, that kind of wraps up recruiting for now, right? Maybe Kruel is the last uncommitted prospect.

Flip a OT (not Ojo),
Flip OL from aggy (just to do it)
Flip a TE (Prothro or Bowman) or get Brown, imo, this not a need).
S (Benjamin for SHA),
DE get Kruel or flip Henderson

That sounds about right

We won't take Ojo's call, if he called.

We're staying after OT M. Lee to the very end.

We need one of Henderson or Kruel. I have no preferrence.

Benjamin, unfortunately, is a more difficult road. We have a puncher's chance. Wish I were wrong.

Word was we were trying to flip Krempen. He was several positions down in our order of preferrence, so I doubt the validity of that story and think aggy probably invented it to look good against Texas.

We're still talking to Prothro and Bowman.

Flip Carlton.

Carlton isn't going to happen.

He's our #3 choice at the position and we're not going to pay him like a #1 choice. Baylor and Tech were prepared to do that.

Unless Carlton decides he'd rather play at Texas and forego all that money, he'll be somewhere else.

Well, Carlton is in Wacko Waco so he can stay there. I like a combo of Wesley and Kruel or Henderson. Wesley is a beast and he is very, very young. If he was a 27 prospect he would be top 10 overall.

Henderson is probably the better prospect but I sure like Kreul's game.

Wesley is young and with that size, you have to wonder if he spins down to DT at some point. Hope not.

5 star running back Derrek Cooper commits to Texas

The running back room in Austin, Texas received a tremendous boost to its depth on Sunday with the commitment of 5-star athlete Derrek Cooper. Cooper, a Florida native, chose the Longhorns over Georgia, Ohio State, Miami and Florida State.

Cooper is ranked as the second-best player in the state of Florida, only behind Texas quarterback commit Dia Bell. He is also ranked the second-best athlete in the Sunshine State and the 29th best player in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite Recruiting Rankings.

The 6-1, 205 lb. Chaminade-Madonna high school product helped his team win a Division 1-A State Championship last season. He unofficially visited Texas on April 26th.

Here is the scouting report on Cooper, via 247Sports’ Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins:

A jack-of-all-trades that some schools view as a running back while others think the ceiling might be higher as a back-seven defender. Owns a favorable athletic profile for a mid-skill with bright green speed and explosion scores. As a ball carrier, runs with plenty of tempo and energy as he hits the hole with urgency. Always seems to be spiraling forward with his 6-foot-1, 205-pound frame and will use his core power to bounce off tacklers in tight quarters. Effective on swing/screen passes and has the hands to emerge as more than just a check-down option for a passing attack. On defense, displays advanced IQ as he’s quick to read and react. Charges downhill with authority and has proven to be a solid open-field tackler. Can get home on the blitz and is also rather competent in both man and zone coverage after playing primarily safety early on in prep career. Should be viewed as one of the more unique evaluations in the class given the position ambiguity as he could settle in as a bell cow on offense or thrive as a speed-and-space linebacker. Will need a plan and a vision at the next level, but has stamped himself as one of the top overall prospects in the Sunshine State at this stage after impacting games in a variety of different ways.

Andrew Ivins, 247Sports

Last season, Cooper rushed for 905 yards on 124 carries for the Lions. He averaged 7.3 yards per carry and 60.3 yards per game, and finished the season with a total of 13 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 9 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown.

Cooper becomes the 21st commit and the first running back pledge in the Longhorns’ 2026 recruiting class.

Why do I get the feeling this (next 30 days) is gonna suck until Aug 31st and season begins?

There's an announcement on Aug 2 for a kid we're in on. I can't remember his name though.

However, Gerry says there are no more "Hi's" out there.

With all of the recent recruiting success, a few weeks ago it sounded like a whiny Oprah show. I thought the board was going to have to call Dr. Phil to walk people away from the pharmacist for Prozac/antidepressants run. 😉

It would suck worse being an aggy fan ;)

I'm actually excited for August 30th myself. ;)
Ok. I'm a little torn. My wife and I scheduled to leave for Scotland on 26 August and don't return until 4 Sep. I didn't even think about the OSU. However, I'm excited because we're playing golf at St. Andrews. No, we're not playing the "Old Course", but we're playing one of the other courses. Still it's St. Andrews. Sucks that I will miss the 1st game of the season.

C'mon man, this happens every summer. It's almost a tradition.

One of the things I've done in my life is trace my family tree back, on my father's side. Turns out, we were kind of a big thing in Scotland. You should visit Glamis Castle, just north of the village of Glamis. This castle was built in the 1300s I believe and has been my ancestor's home since then and to today. The castle is still run by the family, though I don't think they live there. The castle's landscape wins top awards every year.

This castle was once the home of Queen Elizabeth Lyon-Bowes. Yes, she was related to me (Mark Lyon).

Daily tours are given.

Apparently a couple of my ancestors was on hand during William Wallace's time and was close with Robert The Bruce.

I was able to trace back to the 1100s before I had to stop. You get fixated on it the further back you go because the further back you go, the more detail and info you get. We don't keep records today like they did back then.
