2026 PORTAL

I think Texas just made it clear they weren't going to offer him $1 mil
agree. Wisner is a good change of pace RB but his production over 3 yrs does not show featured running back status. Undoubtedly, he wants to be the featured back next year to redeem himself for the draft and that is not going to happen at Texas now.

THIS year was his year to show his value and it didnt happen. Is he totally responsible for the bad running game production? of course not but perceptions based on data are what drive this such as only having ONE 100 yrd game this year or only rushing for a total of only 9 TDs in three years. Those are not featured RB stats and, truthfully, $1mil is probably a generous offer.

I agree with this take...

We are about to spend top 3 money this year. Times have changed and can’t rely more on recruiting and development given the portal and NIL.

I know Sark initially wanted to focus more on recruiting development but glad to see he know he needs to change and find balance.

Arch is gonna call out in 26. It’s time to go all in as the next QB will likely need 2-3 years to develop.

Source or proof? Or is this just a hunch?

From Burton at OTF regarding a portal transfer to Texas:

"We’re hearing some very encouraging news for the Horns as it relates to a potential portal transfer.
Would immediately be at the top or one of the top 2-3 at his position available. Plays defense. That’s all we’ll say for now."

If anyone watched the North Texas bowl game yesterday, their running back Hawkins was very good. Saw on Google that hes entered the transfer portal or will enter.
Yea very curious if he will follow his coach to okielite since he is from Shawnee or if someone will make him a big offer. Kid had a great year

I wish Sark would have told him....Tre....we finished near the bottom of the SEC in rushing with you....we can finish near the bottom without you....good luck

FWIW....I disagree that the schools do not show loyalty. The nature of the game is if someone does better than you, they will start ahead of you......that is not being disloyal.
That is totally fine. But then you can't be mad if the player out performs your school as well and leaves for a better offer at a different school. If you want to bench him the second he doesn't perform the way you want him too, don't be mad when he benches you and leaves for a school who performs better in the NIL space.

2 things that are making the transfer portal more wild than it should be that will be weeded out in the next couple of years:

1. Poor agents. There are a ton of them now and most have little to no experience. They are the same guys who a decade ago were the "uncles" looking for a handshake under the table. The good ones who do right by the player AND school, give good advice, and leverage good deals for players will move to the top. Same as in professional sports. Right now a ton of bad advice is being passed out.

2. The calendar still sucks. So many teams are able to manipulate the calendar by promising a player X amount if they transfer. But if the player does leave, that offer magically disappears. Timeline needs to speed up somehow.

Using Wisner as a made up example because I have no real proof: Another SEC school offers him $1 Million to leave Texas. He tells Texas he plans to leave if they don't match. Texas says we can't. We will only go to $750K. Wisner enters the portal and leaves the team. Portal opens on Jan. 2 and Wisner goes to visit the school and their offer all of a sudden drops or they get another player instead. Wisner is left in the cold.

Young people tend to look at the short-term goals vs looking at long-term goals.

Years ago, I was with my company working on a joint venture with another company. The company we worked with offered me more money, a higher salary and a higher level to come work with them. For the short term, it looked really promising. However, I looked at the long-term goals and realized if I stayed, I wouldn't lose any of the years I had already invested in my company and staying put gave me in a better chance to potentially advance.

Had I gone, I would have been laid off in about 5 years. I stayed and did get the opportunity to advance, retiring early under 60. Young people need to look at the big picture, not just the shining part that is attracting their immediate attention.

LSU has taken a serious hit with their offensive line unit (eat it Kiffin). Teams are going to take a long look at that group.
I hear aggy is sniffing this group like a mangey old mutt around a show quality bitch.
