2024 Baseball Season Thread

One of the aggys I work with is worried. Has aggy struggled lately?
@82Horn I hate to be that guy, but wish in one hand and poop in the other and see which one fills up quicker.

aggy is next. SLIM and none is my guess, but if LBJ is truly awesome for 7+innings and the hitters don't swing a bad or stupid pitches, then anything is possible. But not betting on Texas.
I'm not even worried about tonight's game, I feel like we are playing with house money at this point. I'll be very excited if we win and it would be hilarious if we spoil A&Ms best baseball season in how long??

If we can get a good starting pitching performance and avoid (or survive) the middle relief arms, Boehm has shown ability to stretch for a few innings and get an extended work save.

Aggy is throwing their ace tonight. Does our offense get to him at all?

Wow, this thread is really dead huh?

Texas wins their opening game over 2 seed Louisiana 12-7.

Grubbs with a decent start, 5 innings giving up 4 runs. Texas had a 12-4 lead when the bullpen took over. I think Pierce was hoping to save his two best bullpen arms but Cade O'Hara was ineffective after 1.1 innings and Andre Duplantier had to take over. Andre put out a fire and was then solid to close out the game.

Every starter got a hit for 15 total and we worked 10 walks as well. Jalin Flores hit a grand slam.

Pretty much as good of a start as you could ask for.
Flores hit a bomb! Per the announcers, if not for hitting the light pole, it would have gone over the net aggy has behind the fence!

Jared Thomas leads off the game with a 1st pitch solo HR. Offense has made aggies ace work at times, but he has been dealing and getting lots of strikeouts as well - just threw an immaculate inning in the 4th with our batters swinging at a lot of junk.

LBJ with almost definitely his best start of the season. First 3 innings with no hits. Gave up a single to a golden spikes finalist and then a walk in the 4th to put two on with 1 out but got out of the jam with a flyout and K, his 6th of the game so far.

1 out solo HR, followed by a error and a walk.

2 on with 2 outs and the golden spikes finalist coming to bat. LBJ at 98 pitches and Pierce decides to keep him in. Andre Duplantier in the pen.

LBJ strikes him out for number 8! Big moment there!

Nervous to see him stick with a struggling LBJ there? Does keeping him pitching there extend his outing into the 6th inning? He is sitting at just over 100 pitches now and hasn't gone deep in any start so far this year.

Will be interesting to see if he trots out in the 6th. Pierce interview mid-inning says he will check with LBJ about how much juice he has left.

Boehm took over for the top of the 6th. Put 2 runners on but got out of the jam.

He can pitch multiple innings, would be fantastic if he could take this thing to the end.

Duplantier is apparently available so I'd think Pierce relies on those two to get these last 3 innings.

Homer!
2-1 Horns
Not getting anything consistently going against their ace, Prager, but the two solo shots enough for now.

His pitch count is still relatively low so I imagine we continue to see him trot out there.

That announcer is so pro-aggy it makes me stick to my stomach. And the crowd is more like a weirdo cult than a fan base,

Final score aggy 4-2. 4 errors and lack of timely hitting did us in. aggy was beatable tonight and pitching did a solid job.

2 errors in the 8th that lead to the tying run. And error in the 11th with two outs that allows them to score 2. Brutal.

We are cooked with pitching (Andre and Boehm unlikely available today). I see little way we could win 3 games in the next two days.
