2019 Recruiting Board/Thread

I just came aboard to ask for a briefing (for those of us who have paid no attention to 2019 up until now).  My guess is linebacker is a priority?

Looks like Aggie has a good start for 2019.
As Jameson stated, LB and TE are going to be thin in-State. OL is probably the best position group in the state. Texas needs to load up.

Sha,

Kate was the lady of 2018 who's going to be chosen one for 2019? Or are we going to ride Kate (lol) till the wheels fall off?
I don't think we can ever say good bye to Kate. If nothing else, she will make special appearances.

I do have someone else in mind. I'm not sure how the board will respond to her though.

Her name happens to be Kate, too. :)

Your not gonna believe this BUT, I read this before you commented and just about posted a Gif of Kate upton.... but thought I’d get slapped..... that’s my girl right there... and you’ll have PLENTY of gifs with her lol.

Because I'm bored.

Looked at the roster, we currently have a total of 81. Might add a grad transfer or 2 before the summer.

But there are "rumors" of the Duvernay brothers leaving, Freeman retiring, and Nelson leaving. Also Kirk Johnson could retire due to injuries. So that is possibly 5 more scholarships available.

I'll try to type up a complete roster tomorrow with the numbers of each position.

Example

QB with 4 (Buechele, Ehlinger, Rising, Thompson)
Nelson... as in DL Nelson?  I haven't heard this, and I certainly hope not!

Wilson–Whittington–Henderson would be my top three to start with. I think we may take 4-5 WR/slot in this class.

Upton is alright in my book since she did marry an Astro after all. If you have the first swimsuit issue she ever did...yeowzaa!!

Seems he is projected to start at NT in Poona's vacated spot.  Not sure why he would transfer...unless he is not aligned :D
Nelson I don’t think really fits Orlando’s 3-2-6. I honestly think his game is better suited on the inside of a 4 man front. He played well in spelling Poona last year but I just don’t see him as a true nose at 295-305. I think Coburn at 325 and relentless motor is a much better fit, and I could very well see him unseating Nelson. I think Nelson knows this and can see the writing on the wall. Could be wrong, but that’s just my 2 cents.

Would hate to lose a DL with experience, seems he has had flashes of good play.

Completely agree, I hate trotting our true freshman just as much as anyone. But I would rather play a guy that fits the scheme better and would be more productive overall. We gave up a lot of inside runs early in the year, especially against Maryland. I think that was attributed to undersized DTs. You want your nose tackle to suck up double teams so your linebackers are free to make plays on the ball carriers. Looking to see some improvement with a year under Herman and Orlando’s belt and a better understanding of the limitations of the team.

Agree, but the only DT with elite size coming in is Coburn.  Other than him it looks like RS candidates who need to bulk up.  Keeping Nelson seems to be important, at least he knows the scheme and possibly his role to have success.  Need those big bodies on the roster.  Of course Orlando could trot out me and 10 other players and still scheme well.

I would not be surprised to see Fitzgerald spin down to DT/N. Last I heard he was sitting at 6'6 285.

Nelson is your starter at nose if he sticks around. Coburn is talented and will likely see field early in his career, but he isn’t unseating Nelson as a freshmen. His size also isn’t a problem in an odd front and ideally Coburn will need to reshape his body if he wants to maximize his potential.

Linebackers have to make the plays when the opportunities are there and hit their run fits. That was as much of an issue as anything else against Maryland.
