They would have taken Cine in a heart beat.
They had intention of taking him. But he informed the staff some time ago of his decision. This is why we went full ahead with Owens.

So once we took Owens, we would not have taken Cine. We have Jones, Sterns and Foster plus Overshown in addition to the two safeties already in this class. We're full at safety.

We're recruiting Powell as a WR.

Also, do not count of Owens being spun down to LB. Not happening. With his speed and size, they want him at safety.

Overshown will get a look at LB on an ongoing basis. But he is a natural at safety.

anyone have any SA on that tweet about Leal being in Austin on Monday?  Any truth to it?

Don’t mean to be a Debbie downer but are the guys we’re trying to take from Iowa state and TCU under rated?

Yes, I believe so. He's the aggy recruit who reached out to us.

Bobby Wolfe also supposedly contacted the staff, but I heard we were not receptive.
Thanks SHA.  Obviously, if he reached out to Texas then there must be some interest on his side.  Still a ways to go until NSD1, but at least things are trending in the right direction.  Just keep winning and the rest will work out.

why recruiting Powell at WR?

we are still in it with Bru McCoy(ath but will play WR), M Washington, E Higgins, door isnt 100% shut with G Wilson and D Wright. We have 3 WRs committed. i can understand recruiting him as an Ath but 4/5 WRs is plenty. M Washington should be 4 later this month hopefully( love that dudes game!)

Hard to tell on Warren, but take into account how we’ll TCU evaluates and that tells you something. Johnson has really good film and I think he has a chance to start next year if Texas lands him.
Johnson has the speed and physicality to be ready to play rover next year. he moves well, can cover backs out the backfield and drops in zones well. sure he needs to clean up things but most do. he would arrive in january and have spring ball to learn the system and all summer to put on a few lbs and be ready to go. being 2 years removed from HS, his body should be more mature than the avg incoming fr. he will be ready to go.

Warren, on the handful of plays that ive seen, isnt twitchy to play LB, he needs to have his hand on the ground. he is athletic but not overly. He needs to be able to keep that athleticism after gaining 25 lbs. He is similar to Mike Williams from 2018 class, in that he needs a year or 2 to sit. imo, we desperately needs a Juco/grad transfers DE/4i. juco J Johnson, who committed to UGA over us would have been perfect.

McCoy can be committed as an athlete. Powell, too.

Take Higgins off your list. I'd take Wright off as well.

Wilson has a standing offer. There have been some minor rumblings recently.

You've got Whittington, Jake Smith, Demaryion Houston so far. Washington would make 4, and McCoy would be a fifth. If no McCoy, they may sit at 4. No big bodies here, but last year's haul makes that acceptable.

agree about Mccoy and Powell as Ath. Last year we only signed 1 X WR(Eagles) we have non committed this year, McCoy fits the X WR profile but i am not sure Powell does( not 100% sure).

The other JUCO we offered that recently committed to OU would have been a good get for DE/4i as well.  Hope maybe he'll still take an OV.

Alvonte Woodard can play the X

Per EJ Holland, TCU WR commit Kennedy Lewis is officially visiting Texas this weekend.
When are the big boys visiting?  Maybe just me, but seems like most news/ commit watch candidates are dbs and wrs. Where's the beef? I know the staff has a plan, but I would feel better with a few more big bodies looking more interested.
