I know Wiley is "intriguing", but do we really need 2 TEs just 2 years removed from our last 2 TE class?  And I guess that was really a 3 TE class when you factor in the Cummins move.  Feel like I would rather have spent that scholarship elsewhere.

Cummins moving over was from a depth standpoint. You aren’t going to want to have to depend on him to log heavy snaps.

Ideally Texas would have landed two last cycle, but since they didn’t they will this year. They aren’t oversaturated with bodies by any means otherwise I would agree here.

I wouldn't sweat the spot. Herman & Co. will get quality and make every scholarship count.

Cummins is depth is a nice way of putting it. He came here as a DE. That didn't work out. So here we are. He's a DE playing TE.

Beck is a senior and even he has some limitations when it comes to fitting this offense. I expect Brewer and Leitao to have much more success this year than Beck.

Once Beck's gone, you have three TE's in the fold with two more in this class. I do not expect Malcom Epps to walk in and play. He will need development. So thats really two TE's you have.

One of these two this year will likely have to play early, IMO.

Couple of notes from 247:

We are back in communication with CB Jeffrey Carter.  Him and Taurean Carter are cousins and say they'd like to play together.

The race for LB David Gbenda is tite with aggy.  They are selling him on playing in the SEC.  I hope he realizes Paveto is a piss poor coach and shouldn't even be comparable between him and Orlando.

We are still in touch with EJ Ndoma-Ogre, who still plans on taking visits.

The Carter recruitment is an odd one. A red flag goes up when you instantly de-commit from OU after a Texas offer then you start trending to A&M then to Oregon suddenly.

Has been implied that there is some character/off the field stuff with him.

Gbenda seemed like a shoe in for Texas, but has since slowed things down considerably.

EJNO went from hot to cold with EJNO and I didn’t really agree with it. Now if you want him you are going to be in an uphill battle.

I feel very confident that if we win 9 plus games then we will get whoever we are after.

The one knock on our program is lack of results. I know last year we won a bowl game but that doesn’t cut it for the nation best recruits or our program in general.

De’Gabriel Floyd putting on some good weight already. Really good sign.

Floyd is 241 lbs? Wtf, wasn’t he just 220-225# 2-3 months ago. Don’t want him growing too much more than that. If spherical sipped is still there, that’s amazing. Ready to step in from spring game in 2019. Wow

"Well we don't rent pigs and I figure it's better to say it right out front because a man that does like to rent pigs is... he's hard to stop."

Yup. I’m curious to see him up close with the added weight. Gonna have to watch him closely in Dallas next month.

Any chance we get Garrett Wilson if we win the big12. I feel like we cant give up on that type of talent.

That would depend on spots available. You want to take him if you can until NSD. But you don't turn away a 4-star talent just because you "hope" another has a light turn on.

Texas is in on some great talent at WR. If they come aboard, Wilson becomes a luxury rather than a necessity.

Speaking of Wilson... Ohio State offered Jaylen Ellis today. Not sure if he ends up being a take for them or if this is the latest chapter of Meyer messing with Herman.
