2018 Recruiting Board/Thread

Me, too. To date, he's had every chance to fall in love with UT but hasn't. He did for a period there after being shunned by LSU, but that seemed more like a lovers rebound thing than anything else to me.

So it seems he's looking for a reason not to come to UT. 

That said, I think he ultimately does come to Texas. UCLA is nice and he wouldn't be the first DFW kid to go there, but its a long way from home and their HC is on a seat thats on fire.

 
Okay, I'm now hearing that Epps is all but committed and will make it public within two weeks. He is not one of the two I've been told will cause Kate Beckinsale to make an appearance here.

So that brings us to a pretty fascinating question and I'd be interested in hearing everyone's take . . . We've got DWA and Epps (hypothetically speaking), are we done at TE for 2018 class? Or could this possibly be a three-TE class should MM or Ford decide they want to come?

Epps, at best, is a project. You won't see or hear from him until at least year 3. I can't imagine we'd be done unless Herman knows the other two won't happen. Am I wrong here?

Also, besides the one 2018 I know about, I was told there is another but wasn't told who or what class. So I'm going out on a limb and predicting Branson Bragg commits to UT and becomes the 2nd member of the 2019 class.

 
HEADS UP, guys and gals.

The HornSports.com HS Previews will begin next week. Turns out, two of our commits begin their seasons on Aug. 18 (Rondale Moore and Ayodele Adeoye). We have another (Cam Rising) that will start his on Aug. 25. And the following week is when Texas HS football starts.

Ahemmm SHA?? Lol What did I just say to you??? Lol earlier up in the private pm?? I told you man lol. Something tells me this could be a possibly 3 TE class thats looking like a more possibility. Now having said that If you choose between Ford and MM ... I will say MM . I can see Bama going after Ford. In a sense this is a good problem to have.

I'm just throwing this out there....what if Brewer and Leitao are much, much better than the staff expected? This way they can take a project (Epps). That gives you 4 deep at the TE position. This way they can save a scholarship and concentrate on a different position of need (because maybe TE is no longer that, a position of need). Granted, I think Ford or MM would help out right away, but so does DWA.

You red shirt Brewer this year and play Leitao some. For next year, the rooms has DWA , Jr; Leitao, So; Brewer, (rs) Fr; Epps, Fr. You sign a 2019 guy and now the room is 5 deep if DWA is not a 1 and done.

That could be that scenerio as well. I agree on that one tex. Anything is possible at this rate. We just have to see how this all plays out. But it wouldnt hurt for them to keep recruiting Ford/MM just in case if anything happens

We've heard Epps was set to commit on more than one occasion and it hasn't come to fruition just yet. Not sure which end the delay is coming from, but it has happened more than once.

I've said it before, but I can't imagine a 3 TE class given the numbers and the needs that still need to be addressed.

The staff has been impressed with Leitao, but I still can't imagine them putting themselves behind the 8 ball with a player like Muhammad considering he has been one of the biggest priorities at the position.

You never know with Herman and where his mindset is. And this is the thing with this scenerio . There maybe more than whats going on behind the scenes that he is not gonna report that could be going on that TH isnt gonna reveal just yet. I hope Im wrong but I just got that gut feeling. The other areas that need to be addressed both OL and DL is a huge concern which I hope they got a contingency backup plan in case they miss out on there main targets

 
As a guy who doesn't watch a lot of high school film and isn't really a scout by any means, I'm curious why is Epps considered such a project?

All I've seen is he is a top 200 prospect nationally. Top 10 at his position. And a few highlights of him with that 7 on 7 team that's so good. He looked good there.

I guess I'm asking what is he so bad at that he can't play for a 2 years?

Also, for me it comes down to the ole one in the hand is worth 2 in the bush saying.

I believe a great deal of it is his speed.He does have good upper physical body strength and can block well. I believe DeKaney is in a new district . I could be wrong

They're in the same district, realignment isn't until next year.

His junior film wasn't great, and after committing early to Alabama they basically cut him loose. I think his 4-star rating is a tad bit generous right now.

Bragg's pinned tweet is still getting the Texas offer, matter of when, not if IMO. Also, Kenyon Green has been tweeting all kinda of Texas stuff out lately. Just something to keep an eye on down the line, he'll decommit from LSU at some point, need to be in a spot to get him when he does.
