I believe the report said that Ferns was extremely interested in the Petroleum Engineering degree program at UT and was reaching out to the coaches about a visit.

Could you even imagine - a top recruit choosing a college based on a degree offered?

Yeah that does speaks volumes. If he indeed visits I hope he falls in love with both (engineering program and the football team). He could possibly be a target of we don't get Dontavious Jackson.

He's the type of kid you take no matter what. Smart, physical, skilled, and smart (did I say that one already). If I'm Vance and Charlie I jump immediately. Get him to campus and make it all about the engineering program. Those type of kids aren't thinking about the NFL. Bring him to the 40 and show what Texas is about.

Posted it in the Sonny Cumbie thread, but just FYI - Strong will be in Michigan tomorrow doing an in home visit with ILB David Reese. Reese is going to be an EE and should be making his decision soon. He'll take his OV to Texas this weekend. Nebraska is believed to be in the lead for his recruitment.
