2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

Such an important weekend for Strong and and his coaches for this season and next.  They need the win to take the next step to being bowl eleigible, and they need a good showing so as not to embarass themselves in front of al of the recruits they are bringing in.  Heres hoping that the veterans on this team understand just how imortant this is, and play like it.

Agree.  A good game with our crowd going nuts would be ideal.  I kind of wish it was a night game for this purpose alone.  But at least it's not the dreaded 11 am start.

4-star WR Ryan Newsome  taking an OV to ou this weekend.

Only OV left is to Texas.

4-star S Keivon Ramsey (Converse Judson) has officially decommitted.
Originally committed to Texas in April.
Ramsey tore his ACL over the summer and has not played this season.

I think there is something more to this than just a decommit...

Btw, he tore the knee up at our camp.
Which makes it even more strange that a kid with a serious knee injury would de-commit before proving himself healthy.  According to twitter he only recently found out that he also tore his MCL at the time he tore the ACL.

FWIW - another site is reporting that Texas was not surprised by this.

Grade issue maybe?  I have no idea what kind of a student he is - so total speculation on my part.

The Ramsey decommit is not surprising at all. It was reported a month ago, I believe on 247, that Texas had cooled on Ramsey because of his injury and the fact that there are so many good players left on the board in the secondary. Texas didn't pull the offer or anything, but from what I've read/heard they pretty much have stopped contacting him. That injury wasn't good, he also found out that he tore his MCL in addition to his ACL. The way Strong recruits the secondary he really doesn't distinguish between S/CB, he actually wants guys that are tweeners and can play both positions. Look at who is on campus this weekend and it really isn't surprising that Ramsey decommitted. Davis, Harrison, Boyd, and Hill are higher on the board IMO.

Good info.  Thanks.

I'm still surprised from Ramsey's point of view that he decommitted considering the severity of the knee injury.  Is there still a lot of interest from other schools considering he won't play at all this year?

Great post! Very informative.

Rumors that 3-star OL Tyler Moore's (North Shore) probable commitment may also be getting wobbly.

Do you want to play for a school that doesn't want you though? Might be a little awkward.

There comes a point where Texas has to get healthy guys in the secondary. Two guys that were suppose to contribute in the secondary, Huhn and Evans, have been injured almost their entire career on campus (both knee injuries). I'm sure Strong sees guys on the roster that aren't contributing and understands injury risks are something he can't afford in the secondary right now.

Moving on up.....
So it looks like Miss St has infinite players verbally commited based on the bar graph. Solid SEC recruiting, which 5 guys get offers pulled before signing day? Suck it SEC.

The Ramsey injury was described to me by a current coach as "Kellon Winslow"ish.

Hope the kid rehabs and is able to leverage that towards a good education.

Depends on whether or not Mullen is still coach on signing day.

Kirkland decommitted from Michigan. Says he's considering Ole Miss, Texas, OU, USC, Virginia Tech and Kentucky.
