I hear you. But they play the game 50 hours a year give or take. At least what we consume. They put in 30 to 40 hours for each hour of game time; working out, practicing, watching film, etc. Two-a-days in August. A lot of work goes into the play. It’s not all fun and games. If all you do is play the game, you won’t get paid.If you say so. lol
You can't see people leaving the fandom and think this is a good thing.
You say "work." But it is a game played with a ball. What most of us wouldn't give to be paid to play a game.
If they're going to get paid, should they then forfeit the free education?I hear you. But they play the game 50 hours a year give or take. At least what we consume. Yep, I feel old
IT had an article on roster updates this morning...
- QB Quinn Ewers wasn't mentioned as he's very likely returning
- the staff would like QB Charles Wright to return for depth, but he's expected to portal as a graduate
- WR Adonai Mitchell is expected to declare early for the NFL
- nobody is expecting TE Ja'Tavion Sanders to return
- they've heard talk of a handful of OL entering the portal, especially those from the '23 class
- they received further confirmation yesterday that DT Alfred Collins plans to return
- LB David Gbenda wants to return, but there is some talk that he could go to Nevada with Coach Choate
- LB Morice Blackwell could enter the portal to seek more playing time, but his decision may be dependent on the departure of Gbenda
- there was talk about CB Jaylon Guilbeau entering the portal in December, and his status remains up in the air
- CB Austin Jordan should be staying
- CB Ryan Watts is likely to return with the stipulation that he's open to playing safety
- S Kitan Crawford is expected to take a chance going pro hoping to at least get signed as a special teamer
- they believe S Jerrin Thompson will enter the portal
Texas players have until Saturday to enter the portal since the team made the playoff. As I understand it the portal closed on January 2nd, and the school has 48 hours to enter it. So, since it's the 5th shouldn't everyone who is going into the portal be known at this point?
I would expect that a player entering the portal would want to announce it, since it's an opportunity to advertise he is available, and to say goodbye, and thank anyone he wants to thank.
