2024 Baseball Season Thread

Looks like it will be an ACC vs SEC College World Series this year. Crazy how far those two conferences have separated themselves.

OK, I bow to your knowledge of what went on in the tcu program over a decade ago (I'm sure you saw the emails from the BMDs). But that is personalities not baseball. I don't know what happened there. As a matter of fact I don't care. I do know baseball a bit. Whatever Vitello's personality is, his teams win. Probably wouldn't fit with the Texas ethos.

Plus with Tennessee most likely to reach the finals of not win it all, they are about the offer him a new deal. Plus they are spending around or more than 100M on their stadium.

That's not baseball knowledge that's personalities and industry knowledge. I know baseball. I could care less about personnel or industry matters (they take away from the enjoyment of the game) other than those at Texas. I don't follow all of college baseball just UT. I'll probably only watch some of the CWS Championship series but only if there's a rooting interest. Since there's no conferences other than the ACC and SEC, I probably won't. I'm busy right now with my last son's (he's a 14 year old) baseball season.

I actually saw something suggesting that Vitello is the target. I wouldn't bet on it either.... but the rumor is out there.

Can you fill me in on some of the minor details regarding what went down at TCU? Was he released? Not able to get along with Schlossnagle while CDC was the AD?? Just curious....

If your target is in the CWS, you have to wait until they’re done. The LSU coach is available now. So he probably is not the top target.

I've seen the rumors, esp on SEC rant. Just don't see it happening. If it does; they must have had some really important people there to keep the peace.

He was and is a really good coach, but the short version of his time at TCU. It goes that he got the attitude of he was more important than Schlossnagle and wanted to be paid better than any baseball HC and when CDC said no; he quit listening to both of them. But like I said they helped him move on to a new gig.

It depends on what CDC is thinking? He usually goes for a big name, does Schlossnagle fit that? Does the Florida HC fit that? Who else?

The rumors on the Tennessee coach are out there, but Tennessee is also got a big new extension waiting for him as well.

Plus, unlike some of our previous AD the leakage of stuff, CDC keeps most everything closed off until he is making an announcement of the change.

Pierce can't come back now. He won't be able to recruit because the recruits will know it is only a matter of time. He won't be able to get a staff that would help because they'll know it's only a matter of time. CDC is waiting until after the CWS for any number of reasons. But we all think we know it. Having not given Pierce a vote of confidence by this point means it's over.

Bobby Burton came out and said that boosters are pressing CDC and that he doubted Pierce would be the coach next season. The only answer to the lack of action at this point is that CDC is waiting to grab a coach from Tennessee or atm

Schlossnagle seems to be the name that is floating around a lot. BMunroe over at OTF seems to think this is a real possibility.

It would cause a bidding war. aggy would have to make him the highest paid coach in NCAA baseball ($3 mil) because Munroe says thats a number Texas is prepared to offer.

So if we lose the bidding war, which we probably won't, but if we did it would still be a win as we will have forced aggy to double his contract. If we win, we have our guy. lol
