Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

Devastating news. This sucks for that young man who was killing it this season. He was going to be the first or second RB taken off the board in the NFL draft. Does this means he comes back? Most likely.

We have a lot of talent right behind him that should hopefully step up. Sark has to open up the playbook with Blue and Keilan which will be interesting to see.
At this point in the season he was the 3rd highest RB in scrimmage yards on the year. Had a great chance to be a doak finalist and with a strong finish, another Doak award for Texas. Wishing him the best and a healthy return soon!

Odd wording translates to odd interpretations. Besides, have you seen some of the comments on this board? 🤣
I figured it went without saying that I've never felt Sark was purposefully blowing leads or wanting games to be close.

But when a regular dumbass like me texts my family and friends on multiple Saturdays and can predict what's going to happen right when Texas goes up 20+, it's become a troubling theme.

Basically, you're inviting a lot of bad things to happen when you play that way and J'm not sure where the disconnect is.

Unfortunately, It’s been a reoccurring theme in the last few games. Need to put teams away and play some backups. Might of saved brooks had we actually put them out of reach

I meant to add you're also doing your program no favors when you have legitimate playoff aspirations.

For example, should any of us be surprised if Alabama jumps Texas in the rankings on Tuesday?

calling it like it is not a bad thing. You are not wrong. I am sure a lot of us get worried when we blow a 20 point lead to team we shouldn’t

Indeed, the rush defense is elite. What that (as well as often playing from behind) has done is force opponents to pass. Unfortunately, our pass defense is not elite so they tend to give up more passing yards and scores than we'd like to see. The coaches know this...why do you think they've brought in a disproportionate number of secondary players from the portal the past two years to try to patch it up? It's definitely helped with guys like Watts and Catalon, but they'll need to continue to recruit pass rushers, DBs and Ss at a high level to make it an elite unit. I don't think it's a matter of coaches not knowing it's an issue and how to fix it; they just don't have all the players they need to get it done right now. Ward's flip and Black apparently being on the verge are good news for the future.

I would put it on the coaches and scheme they run. The DB recruits were highly rated, some injures however. The starters and subs. give WR too much room. DE look ok to me and 2 highly rated ones have commited

It would not suprise me in the least if Bama jumps Texas.

Since the end of September, Texas has not done itself any favors.

Two nuggets from IT...

- RB Jonathan Brooks is expected back next year due to his knee injury on Saturday night.

- sources saying it's not a foregone conclusion that QB Quinn Ewers will leave for the NFL due to working through his shoulder injury and it being a QB heavy draft this year. Hamilton believes it's 65/35 currently that he returns for 2024.

OB is saying the same thing about Ewers coming back next season.
