Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

Nobody knows who's starting until before kickoff. It's less than a month since QE's injury. OU has shown a weakness against running QB's, which QE isn't.

Stats are a push, QE isn't a fact as a better QB, we will see soon enough I guess.

Just win baby.

Quinn Ewers is a better running QB than Card. Card might be the most immobile QB we've had at Texas. He's stiff as a board. When the rush comes, he has about a 1 in 10 chance of evading it.

Despite that, I like Card. I appreciate how he filled in and the courage it took to play injured. I admire his attitude. I'm glad he's a Horn. When QE goes down, we have a great back up option with Card, maybe the best in the conference in that role.

But QE is the better QB and it's not even close.

Yesterday, you were screaming to the world about the Ewers to start news being leaked. Today, you're now saying nobody knows who's starting. At this point, you're arguing with yourself.

Hey, nice to chat with you again.

Never seen QE run, nor seen much of his HS running tapes. If he's coming off an injury, and knowing Sark's non running style it likely won't matter, even if it leaves weapons unused against OU.

You still have last year in your head about Card. The stats this year are a push, watch Nash's video. Card has proven to be much more mobile this year, and with our poor O-line, and QE never getting blitzed yet, we will see.

The jury is still out on Touchdown Jesus. Let the man finish a game and win something before we anoint him.

I wasn't screaming anything. It was national news and on every TV station and Youtube and forum. It's BIG news when there are 2 teams with undecided QB positions in the Red River shootout. Of course there's going to be chatter for both sides, heck 24/7 is for Card to play. It's not just me.

We all know only Sark gets to say who starts (or his handlers) and he is on record as not releasing that information prior to game time to give the other team time to prepare. Everyone knows that was QE's ESPN guy that put that out there along with his Luchesse bags and new NIL deal. He's pimping his guy. That's OK.

I'm all good with Sark choosing QE, it's his team. I'm not OK with a loss and he knows the fan base won't stand for it this year with OU being so bad. Just win baby.

Not true when both fully healthy i.e. Card’s injured ankle . But I agree Quinn Ewers ceiling is much higher

That goes without saying. Still, only 2 recruited freshman have made any meaningful contributions from Sark's 1st year recruiting class even though we turned over almost half the team. It's mostly all from the portal.

When you get a job to coach at UT, Job 1 is the Big 12 title, Job 2 is beat OU.
So he helped himself out by bringing in transfer guys that were ready to play?!  Oh the horror!!!!  That tells me he can see that a player can help him or not.

Here’s what we know.

Card was hobbled with an ankle injury.  He’s struggled at times and played really well at times.  You have to really fit the playcalling to his strengths.  His weakness is passing downfield, which the defenses know.  It affects your run game.  He started the year off as QB2 for a reason.  Running the QB is just a product of card being a good runner.  I don’t think any of his runs have been by design.

Ewers can use the entire play book, and can throw every pass sark uses.  He can stretch the field with his arm.  That makes the safeties stay back.  His throwing arm was not injured.  He started the year off as QB1 for a reason.  When he got hurt he was in the process of lighting up the Bama defense.  He’s the best option, even if Rusty.  End of discussion

I can respect your opinion, and still agree to disagree. There is no statistical evidence to prove any of what you espouse. In a few games it may be true, after 1 qtr it's not.

Didn't say it was a bad thing. Just not recruiting, but those 2 have made a huge difference.

I would prefer that the topic not continually revolve around the idea of Card being better than Ewers. It defies logic and repeatedly puts members in a position of having to point out the differences.

We shouldn't have to do that. Nobody else on the team has to have their weaknesses put on public display over and over. It is really unfair to Card.

If you support Card, you should probably stop with that nonsense and appreciate the fact that Card served his team very well when he was called upon. I happen to think he'll be called upon again before we're done. I'm sure he'll do very well, then, too.

perhaps if Card was healthy he could plant his foot and drive into the ball helping to stretch the field. When that happens he will be even better than he has been. If Card can rest and recover, it is a win,win for the team.

You realize, the class he is talking about was recruited by Herman right? 2022, the first class Sark actually recruited has had several starts with at least three starting regularly.

This isn't a prediction but some points of interest.

1. 0U has 14 sacks, but only 1 against Big 12 competition.

2. 0U has 1100+ yds rushing for a 5.2 avg. so it is imperative Texas makes Beville beat them.

3. 0U has given up 5 sacks the last two games so lets hope all the pressure Texas has been getting this year turns into a handful of sacks.

I'm aware of 2? Between NIL and the portal, the world has spun on it's axis.

He might be called on after the first hard hit on Ewers. Never know how a shoulder will stand upto a hit until it happens.

Heard Gray is questionable or at least hobbled some.
