Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

From my experience, when someone knows they are starting, they know. And it's not supposed to be leaked.
Thamel has had Ewers updates and info for weeks, so these aren't leaks.

Plus, Ewers revealed this new NIL deal today.

You're reading too much into it.

What I'm getting at is, if QE starts Sat., he needs to be productive or get back on the pine. We are trying to win titles, not develop players.
Funny how you make this statement in relation to QE when it applies to both QBs and in fact every player on the roster. If they are injured or not producing , they don’t belong on the field. As for the QBs, both have done some good things but have a lot left to price before they will be consider championship level or better yet Texas icons.

He started in one of them. Hoping for more than 8-4 with the showing we had vs. Bama. The Big 12 title should still be achievable? What I'm getting at is, if QE starts Sat., he needs to be productive or get back on the pine. We are trying to win titles, not develop players.
Do you even believe some of the things you say or do you just like playing this troll role?

Pretty sure if your team is good enough to win titles, you've done a good job at developing players. Georgia won the Natty last year and had a ton of developed players drafted. Same for Bama over the Saban years.

We get it you don't like QE. As for me, I will cheer foe either QB that the staff trots out there because I support the team regardless of who starts.

Vegas could care less, but very telling that the line jumped in UT's favor as soon as it was reported that Quinn was the likely starter.

that has got to be one of the most asinine statements ever....the whole knock on Texas in the last decade is that we were getting good athletes and failing miserably to develop them into big game prime time players. I would bet the farm that CDC had that conversation with Sark

Bet the farm that Sark is incentivized financially for winning titles, not getting players drafted.

As opposed to all other college coaches who care only about developing players for the NFL.

If you’re winning titles, it means you’ve also developed your players.

I know this may be difficult for your aggy ears to hear and even more so to understand with your brainwashed aggy mind.

* You recruit and sign talented players

* You develop that talent

* You win championships

* Developed players get drafted

Rinse, Repeat

The better you do this, the more successful your program is as a whole.

In the last decade plus we have only managed to do the 1st one well and consistently.

We need the talented players to develop and win. QE's ceiling is much higher than Card's, and gives us a better chance to accomplish everything I mentioned.

We have a better chance to win and QE will probably be drafted highly if he continues his trajectory (and stays healthy).

Get it jd?  Didn't think so.

As usual completely missing the point.

QE is rusty, possibly still hurting, out of rythm and lacks game experience. He'll still start most likely.

My point is, if he struggles, in particular turning the ball over more than once.. we have a proven QB in Card who should go into the game rather than sticking with Quinn to develop him. Win Now. Do that and it's all good.

He’s not hurt, or the UT medical staff would not clear him.  Rusty?  Sure, but he’s been throwing for weeks.  It wasn’t his throwing shoulder that was injured.  That’s the good thing.  A Rusty Ewers is still better than a hobbling Card.  Card earned a ton of respect the last few weeks and rightfully so.  That doesn’t change the fact that Ewers is the better QB.  If he were hurt and not the better QB, then Sark wouldn’t start him.  He’s healthy, and the better QB, Sark will start him.   I’ll lean towards trusting a coach that’s worked with and developed some really good QBs in his career over you.  Sorry man

I think the way Sark is trying to do things this is all connected. He starts by developing relationships with the recruits,  sells them on his staffs ability to develop them and on the winning culture they are putting together. The way he wins games and is successful long term is by continuing to develop players and winning on the field.

Nobody knows who's starting until before kickoff. It's less than a month since QE's injury. OU has shown a weakness against running QB's, which QE isn't.

 Stats are a push, QE isn't a fact as a better QB, we will see soon enough I guess.

Just win baby.

That goes without saying. Still, only 2 recruited freshman have made any meaningful contributions from Sark's 1st year recruiting class even though we turned over almost half the team. It's mostly all from the portal.

When you get a job to coach at UT, Job 1 is the Big 12 title, Job 2 is beat OU.
