*****Game Thread: West Virginia Mountaineers @ Texas Longhorns*****

No, I don't agree. WV outscored Texas 13-10 however Texas had the ball deep in WV territory late in the game. Far from what you originally stated.
Come on, you know we got completely dominated in the 4th quarter. We started the 4th quarter with only a 21 point lead and increased it to 24 before total disaster hit. WVA scored twice with the last TD coming at 4:30 or so to get within 18.

It's a good thing we were able to run out the clock and hold on to win a very close one.

Is that pretty much how you guys saw it @Brad Usrey and @Johnny Depp ?

So in other words, WV picked up some garbage TDs down by 24 in the 4th. Where have I seen that before?

When you're up by 24 in the 4th and WV hasn't shown anything all day, you play a different game plan late in the game.

We won the game handily. There's no reason to be upset about it.

lol, "a close one" . . we won by 18.

Please tell me that you detected just a wee bit of sarcasm in my post. Please.

NTG and Sir you miss the whole point. Contrary to some in the Common man thread, WV was not a good team at all. They were the worst team we have played all season so beating them by only 18 is pretty depressing.

I’m just happy we scheduled enough cupcakes to win a few games. (eye roll implied).

One player who doesn't seem to be getting enough credit is Whittington.  It seems like every time he catches the ball, it's for a first down to keep the drive going.  I think we need to get him the ball more.

I don't think I can agree with that. WV was not as good as Tech, but they were easily better than ULM and probably about even with UTSA.

Last year, we lost to WV. This year we won. Have no idea how that can be a bad thing.

WV isn't a game that gets scheduled. They are in our conference so we play them no matter what.

Not close, never in danger. We could have easily put in substitutes. Instead we got Bijan his 100.

Not sure how we are just going to score 50 on demand in games that require it. Recruiting is suffering from pedestrian 2nd halves, and we need to burn some amps on that scoreboard.

Guess I need to work on my sarcasm or find the correct font to indicate when I’m using it.

WV was touted as a legitimate and dangerous opponent by more than 1 in the common man thread and Daniels was claimed to be better than average. Despite that, we have people now upset that we didn’t drop 50 at will. They may not be as good as Tech but they are not a scrub and any a reasonable person would see that we dominated them and they were never really in the game past the opening kickoff.

Screw all the naysayers, It was a good performance and a great building block.

As for recruiting being hurt bc we didn’t score enough, that’s idiotic. Sark and Co. recruited a stellar class with a losing record. Continue winning and the recruits will continue coming.

No, your meter is probably just fine. lol. This is my second whiff on the night. Agree with everything you said.

Yea, its gonna so great when Ewers completes every pass, I can’t wait. Card just went 21-27, over 300 yds, 3 td’s, 0 Int’s in a big win dude.

Yep, I with you on this one.

I'm reading some of the above posts about how "imperfect" Card was and laughing to my self thinking, what in the hell are these people watching! Not to mention what in the hell are they expecting. It's pretty crazy actually.

And, yes, I'm all in on Ewers as QB1 for the Horns.
He had great stats...but stats don't tell the whole story. 2 of those misses were wide open passes that would have gone for TD. We were able to overcome those misses in this game, but that won't always be the case.

44 of those yards and 1 TD were on a pass that was more likely to be an interception than a TD.

Card played really well overall, and is probably one of the best back ups in the nation. I am super glad we have him and like the kid a lot. He just isn't sharp enough at times and that'll bite us at times going forward.

Worthy had more drops than Card had misses. Card was on the run all night, with a bad ankle. Card was OPOG for 2 weeks in row and likely MVP for the last 4. He's got legs, low turnovers, escapability needed with a weak line, has withstood a bunch of hits (several illegal), is the clear team leader this year. Good luck benching him.

Card at QB! Not as good as some one thinks he is. But a whole lot better than a bunch thinks he is.

21- 27  300+ yds. should win rest of remaining games.

Card is a good QB, that's not to be argued.  He is gritty and has done what was asked of him.  He is not the best QB prospect on this team.  If Ewers is healthy, it's time to get Card healthy.

Good post. I'll just add two cents things to it ?

Sometimes a team overcomes it when their QB misses open receivers and sometimes they don't.

And sometimes a team overcomes it when their WR's drop passes and sometmes they don't.
