*****Game Thread: West Virginia Mountaineers @ Texas Longhorns*****

I honestly want this team to stay aggressive, but that was a time consuming drive. They made them work and waste time. I know, I know, but that seemed to be the philosophy of the last 2 drives.

Let me say that I don't agree with it because i'm an aggressive guy.

Picking our defense apart on consecutive drives. Needs to be fixed.

I do think this was purposeful. I think the defense has done similar against UTSA and TT, early in the games. Those times were a bit perplexing as we didn't have a lead.

In this game, Texas went into the 2nd half with a 3 score lead. West Virginia only had 3 possessions. Why? The Texas offense put together 3 out of 4 successful drives (TD, FG, and final drive) that ate up a decent amount of clock and also expanded the lead by 10 points. WVa 3 drives ended in a TO on downs and the 2 TDs, but those 2 TD drives ate up something like 12 minutes of clock.

It wasn't a perfect 2nd half but it was complementary football that allowed us to stay well in control of this game over the final 30.

I really like Card but I think his lack of consistency accuracy is why Ewers won the job. Today he had Roschon wide up twice and worthy free deep. He was 1/3 on those throws but the 1 to Roschon made him catch it off balance and go to the ground instead of eating up wide open grass.

Yes, there may be differences in going through progressions, pocket presence, etc, but if you miss several wide open guys a game, that will come back to bite us.

I totally agree with you.  I think everyone sees it.  Card is a good, gutsy QB and has my full respect.  With that said, the sample size I saw from Quinn shows that he is elite.  He processes things faster and can make every throw in the book.

So, it's the difference between good or elite in my book.  Taking nothing away from the performance by Card tonight as he was really good, but just not great. It's not his fault at all it's just he doesn't have all the attributes Quinn has.  Kind reminds me of 2017 Clemson with Kelly Bryant and Trevor Lawrence.  Kelly was a good QB, but Trevor was elite.

Agree 100%. Card is a hero, IMO. Played with a nagging injury for three games now. Sucked it up and played well. It's not pretty, but he drove the bus very well.

Yea, its gonna so great when Ewers completes every pass, I can’t wait. Card just went 21-27, over 300 yds, 3 td’s, 0 Int’s in a big win dude.

Have no issues with Texas running the ball in the 4th quarter.  Helped chew up clock and let Bijan get his 100 yards rushing.

Be glad about a convincing win and now prepare for ou.   In my opinion, the ou game is Texas’ to lose. No reason UT can’t beat ou, and badly.

I was at the game. Good times!

I'm not sure what to say…. Nothing to complain about?
