They were consistent, or they need to be more consistent?

When I read that I had the same question.

Since they are both freshman,  I'm guessing the latter, and that is mostly expected for freshman in the middle of August.

Notes . . .

– Tempo was good. The ball was 'alive."

– Texans scout at practice today

– Argye Hall back on team "when time is right."

– Hates losing Angilau, but is confident in Hutson, Roberson and Parr as back up centers. (This confirms to me that Hutson was awarded the G spot and thus moved Angilau to backup center).

– Two players who could play any spot on the offense – J Whitt and Worthy.

– QBs played fine but missed opportunities. Looks forward to film review with them.

– Fumbles were fixable things.

– Team ran 100 plays in 100 degree weather and ran gassers afterward.

– Consistency is big for Savion Red and Brennan Thompson.

All notes are from TFB.
A few more practice notes from OB

- Defense was very active. Had three interceptions and the offense also put the ball on the ground four times with fumbles. Said the line of scrimmage was very physical.
- No separation with the quarterbacks coming out of the scrimmage. He described the race for the starting spot as being very close.
- Despite the injuries on Saturday, Sark said the team psyche is great. They had one of their most energized practices on Monday.

Worry some has the defense improved that much or has the offense regressed? Hopefly just practice and both will be ready for opener.

IMO if it was close, he would have already named Ewers starter after the scrimmage. From a video I saw, it appears Ewers has more big plays, and more int's.

My guess is Card starts the 1st 2, the Ewers comes in when the coast is clear.

According to what I've read today, Card has an accuracy issue. His arm strength is about the same as it was last year.

Ewers is more of a gunslinger but his accuracy and arm strength is far better than Card. Ewers will probably start, but we'll have to live with an INT or two with each game.

Ewers is talented no doubt. But the thing is and I’ve been having this question since January is Sark going to have the patience with Ewers?

I can live with INTs as long as it's not at inopportune moments in the game

Ints. is a big game changer. Stops a drive and gives an oppoent anpther chance to score.

I would take a less talented player who takes care of ball, over more talented player who does not.

Read some where two ways to win. Great OL and QB to run the offense. Or great QB and middle of road OL Texas has neither.

Where are you hearing this?

it not all that compciated if ot good chance of completeion throw the ball away. Live to make the next play.

Not alone or not afraid, but live in a dammed football world I never made!

I hope not. QBs need to get in a rhythm with the O. #1 QB starts until they lose #1 status. If you play not to get hurt, you will get hurt.

Daddy Card used this same MO last year on Thompson. Paid him compliments then threw in the digs.
