2023 Recruiting Board/Thread

I wanted to make y'all aware of a report from A&M 247 so that you won't potentially be knocked off of your chair this weekend with bad news.

They'll be holding their Junior Day, and they're feeling really good about WR Johntay Cook II (DeSoto), LB Anthony Hill Jr. (Denton Ryan), OL Isaiah Robinson (Arlington Lamar), DT DJ Hicks (Allen) and RB Rueben Owens (El Campo).

Cook has been a heavy UT lean for a long time and will be returning to College Station for a second weekend in a row, and Texas has been the favorite for Robinson since being his first offer.
Oh well. We have a cb for Ashton Porter. We'll show them.

Texas needs to win this season. We can talk about throwing bags. Product launch was bad last year. But A&M will be a problem this cycle.

" Texas needs to win this season..".  We've used that refrain for 12 years. We need a new mantra.
Yeah, and it really hasn't rung true. None of those losses to OU ever made a dent in the recruiting class, really. We still got ours.

But you can't help but wonder how profitable recruiting would be if we were perennial 11-win team and in the national title conversation every year. Think Bama, but with tons more resources.

I will remind you all that aggy just finished with one of the best classes ever and it came on the heels of a 8-4 season, which is a rather dramatic shift from the expected contention for a title this year. They've never proven they can get out of their own division.

Aggy just converted their back operation into their NIL campaign and started off this way, getting a great head start on us. We drug our feet almost until it didn't matter.

Maybe he's looking to get a Buffalo Trace NIL deal.

I'm more disappointed that he isn't visiting UT.

Big slap in the face to aggy, IMO.

He ditches them on their big weekend to visit a place he knows he won't go to.

Its also pretty funny. lol

I'll agree we've always recruited well with an exception being the offensive and defensive lines.  Without recruiting the  lines you can't win big.

Yep, ever since McWhorter decided smaller, more agile OL were the thing. Then Alabama happened in 09 and Mack decided he wanted the Bama offense but with smaller OL. lol.

I think Mack was seeing red for a long time after the Colt injury and loss to Alabama screwed up his perfect ride-into-the-sunset moment, so he didn't know how to react or what he wanted and it led to numerous mistakes from that night until he "retired."
