Coaching Changes, Rumors, Misc.

Man oh man.. if that’s true about him not wanting to turn over the offense. That tells you all you need to know. If that’s true Tom Herman is just a coaching version of Jerry Jones. Needs to win, wants to win. But if he’s winning, it has to be with him getting all the credit. CDC has to step in if that’s the case and let CTH now that he needs to be CEO not OC or he’s gonna be gone soon. Herman could be a great coach. His personality just makes it harder for him. He’s stubborn and too smart for his own good. He can’t get out of his own way. If this truly is his dream job he’s doing a piss poor job of showing that.

I don't know what to think. I do know that as a fan base collectively, we must be smart as a box full of hair. Was it last year or year before last at this time we were scared to death that someone was going to "steal" Orlando and make him a head coach. Now the only thing we can agree on is that we are glad he is outa here. I hope Ash turns out well, I really do. In my confused state I think the thing we have going for us is that so many seem to be against this hire.

So much drama.... we hired Herman to run his offense at Texas there should be no issue here. Also, our offense was pretty damn good this year and will likely be better next year.

I don't know which report on OB that you are talking about. But the one I saw states that Herman does not believe that the offense played so poorly this season that it needs an overhaul and that his main goal is to find a play-caller who matches his offensive philosophies.

This, to me, is not exactly saying that Tom does not see anything wrong with his offense and is reluctant to give up full control. I can't read what's on IT and 247 so I can't speak to what they are saying. Is there more that they are saying than just this?
I find it bizarre that Herman sees no issues with the offense when we cratered against OU, ISU, TCU, and Baylor and their defenses were basically calling out our plays and mocking us per our uber predictable formations and lack of an pre-snap motion.  He then fires/reassigns his current OC and 2 receivers coaches?  How exactly is he seeing the offense in pretty good shape, but yet he's fired/demoted half his offensive staff?

Herman is in for a rude awakening and apparently CDC can't steer him out of his own way.

He just needs a play caller that was in him

Herman is talking out of both sides of his mouth.  He now wants to be a "CEO" type head coach so he can concentrate on other aspects and details of the program and let his Coordinators run both sides of the ball, but now all of the sudden he's such a control freak that he can't let go of controlling the offense and is therefore costing us a legit shot at major upgrade at OC with Harrell?  Herman is truly burning bridges at this point and too arrogant to get out of his own way.

According to the one report  I read on OB, Herman does not think the offense needs an overhaul. The reports are NOT saying that he sees no issues with the offense.

So when Tom said that he wanted another voice in the offensive room so he could get out of there more and oversee the whole program what he was really saying is that he wants to hire someone that is a puppet and will do and call everything the exact same way He does, he lied and has no intention of hiring a real play caller, or the pay sites are filling in the blanks of their information on their own since the leaks are less than years past? Asking for a friend.
Good or bad, the paysites tend to leave out all context in their reports and leave the reader to draw their own conclusions. I'm convinced they do that intentionally.

well hell.....the ole 8 ball method...."what do you think?.....chances are good....it is decidedly so...."....etc....that will be 9.95 please

We need to back up a minute and take a deep breath. Some are getting riled up on suppositions, opinions from other websites, or posters here. There have been a lot of assumptions based on very few facts. The sun will still shine tomorrow and we're gonna be okay.

Correct. I think imaginations are getting the best of some folks. He's already said what needed to be said about the offense. He's right about the offense we've had. It worked and continues to work at Ohio State. The play calling became generic here, to the point where down/situation/yards to go pretty much dictated what we'd run. Can't do that.

Once a new OC is on board, he'll earn CTH's trust.

GH could run some OSU stuff, I'm sure its in his repertoire. But the play calling will be vastly different as would be some of the ways we use this offense.

On GH, I never expected to hear anything until after NSD-1. Just enough time for the 9.95'ers to create all kinds of narratives.
