2017 Recruiting Thread Part 1

There are things we know about Sheffield but can't report.  ....

So why is Hamm even putting it out there?

ps -- Andrew King thinks the longer this plays out, the better for us

Here is Scout on Derek Kerstetter --  http://www.scout.com/player/206158-derek-kerstetter/analysis?year=2016&s=73

"Derek Kerstetter is a big, physical high school offensive tackle who may project best in college to a guard position. His frame and playing experience could allow him to be position-versatile at the next level as a guard-tackle combo player.

Kerstetter thrives in the run game thanks to his ability to lock on defenders and finish blocks through the whistle. He will block you to the ground if he has the chance.

Improving foot quickness and body control are keys for Kerstetter as he prepares for the Power Five conference level. His height and length sometimes result in him playing a bit high.

That said, Kerstetter possesses two key traits you want in a college offensive line prospect: size/frame potential and physicality.

A big, run-blocking guard seems Kerstetter's best fit in the Big 12, but his technical development will determine whether he becomes that aforementioned position-versatile player, most likely as a physical right tackle. He has the wingspan to be a good pass-blocker against P5 edge-benders.

This five second clip was a let down☹ï¸. I thought he would be cutting and bursting up field. More of a light jog to the outside. Need more!

1st play here, can see the acceleration off the end they mean

"Recruits surveyed at the Under Armour All-America Game were asked what words came to mind when they think of Texas coach Tom Herman. Seven recruits said Herman was "fun," six said "good," and four used "new" to describe him. Some other words used by recruits when they think of Herman: "Offense, genius, personable, relatable and swaggy." Not all of the respondents had positive thoughts on Herman, though, as some recruits said words like "fraud, liar, traitor and trash" came to mind."
