Herman to LSU

Call me crazy, but if I'm LSU, why am I taking Charlie Strong over Ed Orgeron who they'd get much cheaper? Was Orgeron any worse at Ole Miss than Charlie has been at Texas?
LSU wouldn't. The notion that Charlie's agent has planted this to make UT jealous is funny.

it's been suggested in THIS thread Charlie's agent may have been the source. And if so, for what purpose other than to imply Charlie might leave.
Agent, yes. Charlie's agent, probably not. Now, did Charlie's agent push a button to get it going? Perhaps. But certainly not to make Texas feel one way or the other. He's looking ahead, likely in the event Texas were to fire his client.

If there's one thing I've learned from the coaching searches/agents and whatnot, information is intentionally put out there for all kinds of reasons. Seldom do they make sense to people like you and I. Agents are worse than lawyers, IMO. lol

The bold part above is the whole key.

It could very well have been Charlie's agent or someone connected to Charlie's agent. And it could have very well be someone else. Who knows.

Of course, the whole "source" thing could be someone merely expressing an opinion and not someone who has really received any actual information. Or the "source" could have just totally made something up which IMHO happens a lot.

As I've said before, you should take anything a "source" says with a huge grain of salt.

I just had a source tell me Strong gets fired and Herman will be the new head coach of Texas. The source you ask? The voices in my head. Hey, who am I to argue with them?

"There's someone in my head but it's not me."

Wow, you have the same sources that I have! Must be true.

For what's worth Lotushorn on 247 also thinks Herman ends up at LSU. Now with that said I'm not sure he has ever been right with any of his info...

LSU is gonna go deep pocket to get Jimbo?  Talk about crazy...There's a buyout and he's owed 44 million?  Forget that shit.

LSU, Houston coach Tom Herman close to deal, per sources

LSU has zeroed in on Houston's Tom Herman as the Tigers' next head coach and could have a deal in place as early as Saturday, sources told ESPN.

USA Today Sports reported that Herman met with LSU officials in Houston Thursday afternoon.

Florida State's Jimbo Fisher was also near the top of LSU's wish list, after being targeted last year when it looked like Les Miles might be fired. But LSU's search over the past few days shifted more from Fisher to Herman.

Herman, in his second season as Houston's coach, was also thought to be a top candidate at Texas if the Longhorns fire Charlie Strong. Herman's Cougars plays their final regular-season game on Friday against Memphis, while LSU is playing its final regular-season game tonight against Texas A&M.

Texas president Gregory Fenves' preference has been to keep Strong, sources told ESPN's Mark Schlabach, and the odds of Strong returning for a fourth season are expected to increase dramatically if Herman is no longer available. The Longhorns need to beat TCU on Friday to finish 6-6 and become bowl eligible.

Ed Orgeron has guided LSU for the bulk of this season after Miles was fired on Sept. 25 following an 18-13 loss to Auburn. The Tigers are 4-2 under Orgeron, who was also a candidate for the full-time job.
